Company : Hirco Plc & Intrepid Capital Partners
(Oct 2007 – Till Date)
Position : Chief Operating Officer
Joined HIRCO, the investment arm for real estate, of the Hiranandani group which is also an AIM (alternative investment market) listed company as Chief Operating Officer of their hospitality, retail & entertainment venture. In 2006, the company, through IPO in AIM, raised 380 million sterling pounds to be invested in commercial developments in India. Project finance, P&L, project monitoring, architects & designer selection & coordination, land evaluation and acquisition; government and local bodies’ liasioning, product designing, devising cost control mechanism, creation of standard operating procedures, feasibility reports, commercial leasing, defining channel partners, funding, investor presentation & sourcing were part of the job profile.
Achievements:
• Expanded the company’s footprints to 10 different cities in India
• Set up worldwide sales offices in Philadelphia, London, Dubai & Singapore.
• Created the Business Plan, for setting up a room inventory of 5000 rooms in India within a retail & entertainment format.

Company : Sahara India Parivar
(May 2006 – Oct 2007)
Position : Chief Executive Officer-Hotels.
Joined Sahara India Parivar, as Chief Executive Officer-Hotels. Sahara is a 2.5 billion dollar company involved with real estate, airlines, hotels, FMCG products, electronics, residuary non- banking financial products, healthcare, education, life insurance & mutual funds. The role was to primarily set up five star category hotels in their mixed used integrated township developments in 216 cities across India, under the brand name Sahara City Homes.
Achievements:
• Worked out, commercially viable, management agreement for seven hotel projects, in seven different cities of India, with renowned International hotel brands to setup five star business category hotels.
• Developed the business plans of these hotels also.
• Worked with hotel brands like Radisson, Hyatt International, Starwood & Microtel.
• Soft launch of the first phase of a five star deluxe property, Sahara Star, with 219 rooms & seven world class F&B outlets in Mumbai, India.
• Was initially involved with the conceptualization of, Amby Valley, India’s first gated city in the hills, spreading across 20,000 acres of ecologically sensitive land. Was involved in the stake dilution of 49% in the company to a capital market player.
Company : Microtel Inns & Suites
(January 2005 – April 2006)
Position : Chief Operating Officer- Indian Sub-Continent
Joined Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, as Chief Operating Officer, for the Indian subcontinent and looked after the portfolio of Microtel Inns & Suites in the Indian subcontinent. Microtel Inns & Suites has about 130 odd properties worldwide and is in the process of setting up twenty odd properties all over India. Fourteen properties are already short listed and the first property, in Bangalore, is up and running since the first quarter of 2008. The total investment for all 14 properties is in the tune of 850 crores. My portfolio was responsible for setting up of these hotels in the Indian subcontinent & then managing them as individual profit centre. We were also in the process of entering the Middle Eastern market along with Eastern Europe.
Achievements:
• Was the first one to bring & represent an internationally renowned brand, to the “limited services” segment of the hospitality industry in India.
• Total outlay of investments was to the tune of 230 million dollars.
• Created business plan for all the franchisee operations
Company : Taj Group of Hotels
(June 2001 – December 2004)
Position : General Manager
Rejoined the Taj Group of Hotels, as General Manager for their business property, The President Hotel, in Mumbai. The hotel compromises of 292 tastefully appointed rooms, including 20 executive suites. There are five state of the art banqueting facilities, accommodating up to a total of 1200 pax. There are three specialty restaurants along with a bar. The hotel has all other modern amenities required for a large 5 star deluxe, business property.
Achievements:
• Did the seamless transition of the President Hotel, from Piem Hotels to the IHCL banner with equity infusion & stock transfers & thus calling it the “Taj President”.
• Converted the hotel to one of the prime bread earners for the group with revenues touching close to 16.35million dollars per annum.
• Did the complete renovation of the hotel.
• Set up the first, budget property, of the group with internationally acclaimed, management guru, C.K.Prahlad, terming the venture “IndiOne”.
• In total, planned four “IndiOne” properties, in four different cities of India.
Company : The Hampshire Group of Hotels
(Jan 1995 – April 2001)
Position : Operations Head
Worked for The Hampshire Group of Hotels, at their corporate headquarters, in Jersey City, New Jersey, as an Operation Head. It was a 290 room property, with banqueting area for 2200 people spread over eight rooms, two specialty restaurants, a full bar and a twenty-four hour coffee-shop. Along with this profile was responsible for the operations of 29 other Howard Johnson properties along the East Coast, starting from Maine to Key West in Florida.
Achievements:
• Was responsible for expanding the network of Howard Johnson hotels, in the group. Took it from 8 in 1996 to 29 properties in 2001.
• Increased sales of these properties through community participation.
• Setup a uniformed code for accounting, operations &training.
• Acquired, “Master franchisee’’ status for, the east coast.
• Exceeded budgetary targets for six consecutive years in a row.

Worked for IHCL as Asst. Manager Food & Beverage, for their properties in Mumbai, Calcutta and Bangalore. During this period, with the Taj Group, also specialized in accommodation operation along with food & beverage.
