Academic Projects:

Mini Project I:

• Name of Project: AM Transmitter

• Project Duration: Feb 2009 to May 2009 • Project Description: In this project, we will make a simple low-power broadcast circuit, using a crystal oscillator integrated circuit and an audio transformer. You can connect the circuit to the headphone jack of a portable music player (e.g. mp3, CD or cassette tape player). You'll see that you can receive the signal through the air with an AM radio receiver. Although the circuits used in radio stations for AM broadcasting are far more complicated, this nevertheless gives a basic idea of the concept behind a broadcast transmitter • Technologies Used: Hardware

Mini Project II:

• Name of Project: Temperature Controlled Fan • Project Duration: Aug 2009 to Dec 2009 • Project Description: The main working principle behind temperature controlled fan is that, whenever the temperature increases, the speed of the dc motor increases. We have used, LM35 which is a centigrade temperature sensor. This I sensor is an analog one, its input is given to pic16f676 which converts the analog value to digital and then feeds it into 89c2051 which then controls the working of dc motor. Software PWM has been generated in order to control the speed of them motor. Once the temperature crosses 25 and upto 30 degrees, we have a speed limit of 20% above 30 to 35 the speed limit is 30%.For 35 to 40 the speed limit is 40%.From 40-45 the speed limit is 50%.As we can see that as the temperature goes on increasing , the PWM duty cycle also goes on increasing. Entire circuit is powered by 7805 voltage regulator which gives output 5V from a 12V battery supply. The controller operates at 12Mhz. • Technologies Used: Hardware

Final Year Project:

• Name of Project: SINK REPOSITIONING IN WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORKS

• Project Duration: July 2010 to May 2011

• Project Description: Since almost in all sensor networks data are routed towards a single sink (gateway), hops close to that sink become heavily involved in packet forwarding and thus their batteries get depleted rather quickly. In addition, the interest in optimizing the transmission energy tends to increase the levels of packet relaying and thus makes queuing delay an issue, especially for real-time traffic. In this we investigate the potential of gateway repositioning for enhanced network performance in terms of energy, delay and throughput. We address issues related to when should the gateway be relocated, where it would be moved to and how to handle its motion without negative effect on data traffic.

• Technologies Used: Network simulator 2 (NS-2)
