Operational systems for anesthesiologist. Scheduled employees based on patient appts. AR/AP/Payroll.
MANAGER Cosmetic Plastic Surgery 1999 to 2001
Operational systems for four locations of plastic surgeon and four aestheticians. Installed AR computer and increased reimbursement 33% in one year. Scheduled patients, posted charges and receipts, payables, purchasing, priced surgeries for hospital and in office surgical suite. Extensive educational focus and customer loyalty program for patients pre and post surgery.
PRACTICE MANAGER University Orthopaedic Surgery 1999
Daily clinical operations of 6 physician practice. Special projects accomplished: employee handbook, clinical manual and corporate brochure, installed Medic computer saving $156K annually, performed annual employee/physician evaluations, instituted staff meetings and educational seminars for accurate billings, medical/surgical procedures and employee self-esteem. Coordinated compliance programs. Brochure and marketing plan for area PCP's.

ADMINISTRATOR Community Orthopedic Surgery PC 1991 to 1995
Successfully implemented changes for the 7 physician 50 employee orthopedic and hand surgery private practice including in-house financials, payroll, accounting and auditing; computer system for patient scheduling, registration, billing and insurance; electronic claims transmission; personnel handbook; and a clinical and administrative policy and procedure manual. Completed changes in malpractice insurance carrier, life and disability insurance for all shareholders. Demonstrated effects of participation of assignment and withdrawal with major insurance carrier. Opened a third satellite office. Physician's salary/benefits compared to total expenses increased 15%. Administrator in the construction phase for the Michigan Orthopedic Center partnership ( a real estate venture of five competing practices, ancillary tenants and surgical suites in the 80K sq ft building dedicated April 1995). BONES representative for AAOS for PPRC proposal to revise Medicare's practice expense payment methodology.

Wellington Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine
Responsibilities included administration and management of 11 physician Orthopaedic practice. Managed four office locations with Orthopaedic, Physical Medicine, Physical Therapy, Sports Medicine services to 6000 patients per month; personnel of 100+ with in-house financials; computerized patient registration, appointment scheduling, billing, insurance and collections. Responsible for physician's external partnerships activities; two buildings and four tenants; research foundation; funded fellowship programs, research and bio-skills laboratory. Served as Consultant to other medical practices.
ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT-DEPARTMENT OF ORTHOPAEDIC SURGERY
University of Cincinnati Medical Center 1970 to 1978
Coordinated and planned internal operations, and acted as liaison to University, metropolitan area and national organizations. Projects included instituting a zero-based project for the Department involving nine funded divisions with numerous income sources. Responsible for organization of $1 million Professorship fund. Compiled brochures for internal and external distribution for resident applicants, speakers bureau and patient information. Responsible for maintaining personnel, payroll and evaluation systems for 115 faculty, residents, staff and students. Coordinated by-laws, rules and regulations for the medical staff, promotion-reappointment-tenure Committees; AMA inspection for Accreditation of Residency Program; Basic Science courses, visiting professors, symposiums, and clinical grand rounds; Orthopaedic Manpower Study for KIO area. Developed Alumni Society. Coordinated promotional requests, grievances, lay-offs, employee relations and immigration projects.

When the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services eliminated consult codes in 2010, many specialty practices had multiple areas of disruption in their daily processes and, more importantly, loss of revenue. As the manager of a practice's retina division, it was important for me to monitor this change and document the impact to both the physicians and the consultant from the accounting firm....
