Career Motivation/ My Pedagogy:
After my youngest child started school at Malcom Bridge Elementary School (MBES), I started working in the school as a substitute teacher. I had volunteered in the school for several years and was very impressed, so the part time job was perfect for me. I didn’t expect to find a new career, but life makes changes when you least expect it. In the spring of 2006, (Rocky Branch Elementary School) teacher Jennifer Adams and (MBES) teacher Becky Adams both told me that I was meant to be a teacher and that I had a great understanding of the students I worked with in their classrooms. They encouraged me to go back to school and earn my teaching certification.
I truly enjoy the challenge of teaching academic subjects to children in manners that are interesting and motivating to the students. Additionally, I am able to build appreciative relationships with my students that allow me to recognize and build upon the positives of each and every student. Most of all, I like the challenge that every new day brings in my classroom. I have to be calm, creative,
loving, and motivated to deal with my students in the most optimal manner that encourages learning and living life to the fullest. I love being a teacher!
