Experience

• October 2008 – September 2010, Institutional Dental Director, Mid America Health, Chillicothe, OH. Provide comprehensive dental care to all patients. Provide emergency dental services and 24 hr on-call coverage.

• October 2000 – 2008, Staff Dentist, Chillicothe VA Medical Center, Chillicothe, OH. Provide comprehensive care to inpatient and outpatient population including nursing home, psychiatric, medical and homeless domiciliary veterans.

• September 2001 – 2008, Part-time Clinical Associate Professor at the Ohio State University College of Dentistry, Department of Primary Care- General Practice Residency program. Provide clinical instruction to the dental residents who provide comprehensive dental care to the special needs children and adult population.

• December 1999 – September 2000, McLean County Health Department, Bloomington IL. Provide dental services to adult population of county.

• August 1998 – October 1999, Correctional Physicians Services, Lincoln IL. Patient population presents challenges in various aspects of working in a public health clinic. Patients have a vast array of dental disease and challenging medical histories, which require greatly diversified treatment planning and protocols. Patient population has a significant rate of infectious diseases, including HIV, Hepatitis A, B and C, Venereal Disease and Tuberculosis. Patients require in-depth oral hygiene instruction as the majority have no previous dental care and are uninformed of the overall health impact of the absence of oral care. As the sole practitioner at the facility, I was responsible for the overall implementation of the dental health program.

• July 1997 – August 1998, Private Practice Associate, Peoria IL. Provided dental health services to the pediatric population of the practice. Performed required school examinations and provided dental care instructions to children and their parents. Adult patient population responsibilities were shared with the practitioner who owned the practice. Provided geriatric care to Proctor Hospital long-term care facility patients.

• April 1996 – June 1997, Private Practice Partner, Decatur IL. Sole practitioner at the only dental practice in Decatur that provided Medicaid dental services. Performed required school examinations, patient education, and provided all necessary dental care as a public health service. Also provided dental services to general practice population 60% of the time.

• August 1995 – April 1996, Private Practice Associate, Arlington Hts. IL. General care practitioner in a group dental office.

• July 1994 – June 1995, General Practice Resident Hines VA Hospital, Hines IL. Provided all facets of dentistry in a hospital care setting to ambulatory and admitted patients. Provided on-call emergency services at Loyola University Medical Center. Patient population was primarily geriatric and medically compromised, requiring special needs care. Performed services as a general dentist during first half of residency, oral surgery during second half including oncology rotations and implantology. Rotated through general medicine cardiac ward, ENT, pathology, emergency medicine, anesthesia and surgery.

• October 1994 – April 1996, Volunteer Dentist, St. Basil’s Free Dental Clinic, Chicago, IL. Provided all facets of dental care to the indigent population of Chicago.
