Slope Stability Geologist– Dec 2000-June 2009, WA DNR-Pacific Cascade Region
Assessed effects of timber harvest on forestland slope stability culminating in recommendations for mitigation to forestry staff providing supporting geotechnical reports and maps. Position tasked with assuring that all harvests complied with state forest practice rules, federal approved HCP, and internal management policy as related to slope stability and erosion. Required computer savvy with use of MS Office. Two years GIS experience. Required interpretation of aerial photographs, maps generated using LiDAR data, and geologic maps.
Surface Mine Geologist– Nov 1990-Nov 2000, WA DNR-Central Region
Managed all elements of surface mine reclamation program within region including permit application, environmental review, conditioning and issuance, annual fees, bonding, inspection, compliance, and technical assistance. Managed 100 to 200 permits. Region expert on mineral resources and regulatory aspects of extraction, ancillary uses activities, mine site restoration, and mine-related land use and environmental issues. Responded to inquiries and complaints. Attended public meetings providing presentations as part of public outreach and education.
