1985-1991 Quality Manager – Responsible for quality system for automotive and industrial battery divisions. Supervised staff of three inspectors, three Quality Auditors and two Quality Engineers. Reported directly to VP- Quality.
Developed auditing plans to verify quality objectives were being met. Worked on the floor with manufacturing personnel to improve and troubleshoot problem areas in manufacturing. Areas involved polypropylene heat sealing equipment and processes, lead spot welding, plate pasting, grid casting. Able to work with MFG and Engineering to lead teams to correct problems with products. Performed vendor audits. Set-up receiving inspection program for all purchased materials. Implemented SPC studies on key processes. Worked with Engineering, Sales and Manufacturing to be an approved supplier for BMW. Set up MSHA approval program for mine batteries according to CFR part 18.
