Central Ohio, privately-held, full service dental practice.
Staff Accountant
Oversee all A/R, A/P, General Ledger Accounts, including reporting and documentation. Reconcile all accounts for practice, involving 4 bank accounts, 2 checking accounts, 1 savings account and charge account. Manage payroll for 5 employees and corresponding 401K programs, vacations and sick pays, and health insurance. Administer malpractice insurance, content insurance, building insurance, electronic file recovery and safety insurance, and long-term disability and life insurance coverage.
• Assisted in building practice 27% in first year alone while retaining almost 100% of client base after owner purchased practice from retiring dentist. Developed original marketing plan that resulted in net profits of 18%; outstanding contribution toward growth occurred in spite of original projections suggesting loss of 1/3 of clientele and revenue decrease of 28%.
• Helped reduce practice costs by 20% while retaining original staff since inception. Cost reductions achieved through upgrading technology (server and computer workstations), ensuring office environment and examination rooms maintained in spotless condition, consistent delivery of outstanding customer service, and establishing personal rapport between staff and clientele.
• Prepared W2s, 1099s, and end-of-year tax documentation and performed end of month closings. Processed and submitted payroll tax payments through EFTPS and quarterly tax payments through Ohio Gate Way.

• Played pivotal role in upgrading speed and storage capacity of dental practice computer system consisting of Hewlett Packard server with 9 workstations. Instrumental in converting practice from paper-based system to digital file format.
• Successfully spearheaded internal and annual audit of practice that resulted in state of Ohio recognizing practice as being in compliance with Ohio and Bureau of Worker’s Compensation (BWC) laws. Coordinated review and activities with Ohio state and BWC auditor. Prepared, performed, and reviewed company audits.
• Conducted annual financial projections for practice; forecasts include revenue, costs, and profit. Imported relevant tax data into software program and forwarded data and documentation to accountant for current tax year.
• Directed A/R functions; pursued patients for non-payment of services rendered, taking to small claims court. Initiated wage garnishment process in order to collect owed funds.
