Vandalia Ohio Engineering Center (2002- 2009)
Plastic Injection Molding Process & Tool Engineer –Molding Development:
Product development of new designs in Urethane and Composite tooling.
My duties were to build the tools to the correct specifications, perform mold run offs at the vendor, bring the
tools in house, setup the process and make any tooling changes needed to form a dimensionally acceptable
part.
Support troubled plants in processing and tooling applications for urethane and Injection molding. Perform
any tooling, process or machine adjustments. Global support to Foaming and Injection molding plants. To
troubleshoot and repair any tooling, process or machine alterations needed.
Delphi Automotive - Vandalia Ohio (1999 –2002)
Plastic Injection Molding Process & Tool Engineer
Planned, Directed Installation of new injection-molding department. Installing the machinery to correct
specifications, installing the tooling and setting up the process to completion. Directed all mold repairs
Supervised Engineering and maintenance in machinery trouble shooting and mold repair. In charge of new
products and tooling builds and runoff.
Lansing Automotive - Lansing, Michigan (1995-1999)
Senior Plastic Injection Molding Process & Tool Engineer
Responsible for installing molding machinery, training Skilled Trades and Process Engineers on Processing
and machinery maintenance. Instruct toolmakers on the correct methods of Gating and maintaining injection
tools. Managed the design and tryout of new molds, materials for cost, quality and processability. Perform
in house tooling/material trials on different grades of processability.
Saturn Division - Springhill TN (1988 - 1995)
Lead Senior Plastic Injection Molding Process & Tool Engineer (1992-1995)
Responsible for all Engineering and processing activities for Vehicle Interior systems in the Injection Molding
department, specifying machinery type and sizes to mold the specified products. Build the tooling and
making the necessary changes before running it off and turning it over to production. Setup and Installed 3
thermoforming units to vacuumform a leather skins onto a door substrate panels, doing the necessary mold
work to make them production worth before turning over to production. Thermoforming the instrument panel
using vacuumforming methods and performing the correct tool modifications to produce an acceptable part.
Responsible for all sourcing of outside contracting, engineering and machinery installation. Established
process of all new molds and materials, Working with tooling vendors on all new tooling programs from
design to production. Perform in-house tool/material trials to gain a cost effective low scrap rate part.
Worked as a troubleshooter for GM’s small car group Advanced Engineering fixing there machinery or molds
as needed. Responsible for budgetary requirements, capitol allocation for new programs and engineering
manpower for Interiors Systems. I did all my own mold/ material changeovers.
