Career Objective
To secure a position that would enable me to, broaden my current skills, challenge my various abilities and add valuable assets to your esteemed organization as an active member.
Present Status (From July 2010)
Currently working as Associate Engineer in design and development section in Optiwave Photonics Ltd, IDA Mallapur, Hyderabad.
My Role in Projects:
Detailed analysis for optical component and mechanical assemblies required for project. Testing of Optical components, Optical components placement, optical fiber routing, optical device testing and final calibration of device.
Project-1:
Title: Customized photodiode for defence application.
Description:
The project aim is to design and developed the photodiode for defence application. For this after designing and development lot of functional and environmental tests are carried out on photo-diode.
The Photo-diode having large dynamic response range over which output voltage is almost constant. For achieving this, Plano-convex lens is placed on the top of the photo-diode and fixed using appropriate grade epoxy. The output voltage responsitivity is dependent on the load resistor value.
The work is include following things
1) Testing of general purpose photo-diode
2) Precisely fixing of appropriate lens
3) Determine the effect of load resistor on dynamic range of photo-diode
4) Functional testing of photo-diode
5) Fixing of photo-diode
6) Environmental testing
Project-2:
Title: Noise Figure Measurement in Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA).
Description:
The project aim is to measure the Noise Figure performance of the EDFA. For this signal spectrum is measured before amplification and after amplification..
Noise Figure is calculated for different input signal level and different pump power level.
Project-3:
Title: Cladding etching of Single Mode and Multi Mode Fibers.
Description:
The project aim is to precisely etch the cladding of the Single Mode and Multi Mode Fibers. For this output power of etching fiber is measured before etching and after etching. Based on the decrease in output power we can analyses the cladding etching.
Other Works
I am involving in optical routing of EDFA, testing of EDFA, Laser pigtailing for stabilized light source, calibration of stabilized light source, photo-diode pigtailing etc.

Title: “Damage Detection in Composite Structures using Hi-Bi PCF Sensor”
Supervisors: Dr (Mrs.) H.V. Thakur, Sc’D’
Description: The purpose of this project is to detect the damage in glass composite beam using High Birefringent (Hi-Bi) Photonic Crystal Fiber (PCF) sensor. The Hi-Bi PCF sensor is embedded on the glass composite beam. The damage is detected based on change in the fundamental natural frequency of the glass composite beam. Natural frequency is measured through polarimetric-interferometric technique.
The Hi-Bi PCF the sensor is sensitive to the measurand over the embedded sensor length (compared to the operation of a point sensor) and the sensor can be embedded in the composite structure with minimum negative effect on the integrity of the structure itself. Hence, a single fiber optic sensor can be seen to be a very promising device for global structural health monitoring. Hi-Bi PCF sensors has shown that the fibers used have exhibited extremely small sensitivity values to temperature, while maintaining good sensitivity to strain/pressure, key parameters in structural measurements. This advantageous situation arises from the PCF being made from a single material, i.e. pure silica, and, with air holes running along the length of the cladding of the fiber, total internal reflection at this interface can occur. Moreover, the two large air holes adjacent to the solid core results in the required geometric birefringence to give these favorable characteristics.
The first natural frequency, as measured by the embedded Hi-Bi PCF sensor, matches very closely to the frequency measured by use of the conventional accelerometer (B&K). The Hi-Bi PCF optical sensor could thus be further explored under harsh environmental conditions with variations in temperature, due to their inherent advantage of temperature insensitivity.
