Seasoned and proficient developer, using the evolutionary programming language, RPG, on an IBM AS/400 computer. Strong demonstrated abilities to lead team of subordinate programmers; working with project managers to collect, refine, break down and distribute logical parts of project to individual members. EXPERIENCE
Senior Programmer/Analyst 1994 – 04/09
Cardone Industries
Philadelphia, PA
Automotive parts remanufacturer employing 4,500 with operations in USA, Canada, Mexico and Europe.
Team member developing AS/400 (RPG IV—ILE and Free) new and legacy applications in diverse areas: Procurement, Materials Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, Warehousing, Distribution, Transportation. Worked directly with internal customers to understand, define and document requirements; develop functional and detailed program specifications; and, when ISO standards required, provided detailed, written process documentation, which became part of Cardone’s formal process (and audited) document library.
Significant accomplishments
-Transformed totally paper requisition system (for non-manufacturing items), hand-carried from one authorizing signatory to another, to a completely on-line, interactive, electronic system; routed to appropriate signatories, based on complex hierarchical decision matrix. Once all signatories agreed on the expenditure, requisition would be forwarded to appropriate buyer, in Purchasing department, where it would be finalized and converted into a Purchase Order and electronically, be routed to external supplier, as an email attachment – all paperless.
-Created ISO-compliant user process document. R.O.I. not so much in green savings (elimination of paper) as it was in turnaround time; from entry into the computer; it’s location (who next needs to approve or deny) to the time requisition either denied or approved and converted into a Purchase Order and sent to external supplier – a different kind of green savings.
-When Cardone Industries expanded its manufacturing operations, beyond Philadelphia, enabled Mexican factories to capture, maintain and replenish inventories, using a common database, but with changes to database, distinguishing which factories were accessing the programs. All other supporting inquiries and reports were modified to recognize “who” was accessing data, and would only present information, pertinent to that factory.
-Created ISO-compliant process document, for (materials for manufacturing) Purchasing department; a step-by-step guide to usage and understanding of all programs involved.
Created ISO-compliant process document, for Core buying department; a step-by-step guide to usage and understanding of all programs involved.
