- Improved plant productivity over a four year period by 16 %. Results were achieved through effective scheduling and labor monitoring, and utilizing cell manufacturing in certain areas.
- Eliminated the backlog on military contracts that were 4 months delinquent. Convinced management that a second shift was needed to accomplish this. Initiated the second shift and cleaned up the delinquency within 3 months after start up.
- Conducted a Kaizen event to investigate changing the coating on a high usage face and center drill. Implemented change increased tool life 250% and saved $60,000.
- Worked with the Quality Manager to improve output and quality in a 10 machine screw machine department. Worked with the union to institute necessary in-process inspection and documentation for the operators. Also developed an incentive system for the operators based on machine uptime. Result of these efforts was that all of this product was brought back in-house, after being outsourced to China.
- Set up new facilities to bring in-house, machining and painting processes that were previously done outside. Investigated and purchased the necessary machinery, and personally trained operators. Reduced the unit cost by 14-16%, on a product line that comprised 80% of the business.
