Project Title: “CALCULATION OF TSUNAMI TRAVEL TIMES ALONG WEST COAST OF INDIA USING GIS”
Description: Tsunami is considered as the most dangerous natural hazard affecting the population of the world living near the coastal belts. The Earthquake which was recorded, observed and documented was the 27 November, 1945 Makran Earthquake in the Northern Arabian Sea which had generated a tsunami and caused devastation and destruction. For the tsunami genic earthquake of this region, the travel times of tsunami at different locations along the West coast of India have been calculated using GIS software. It is done by using different methods in ArcGIS software like 'Con-tool method', 'Contour method', and ‘Profile method'.
Major project-1: Duration 6 Months
Project Title: “CRIME MAPPING AND ANALYSIS FOR HYDERABAD CITY USING ArcGIS”
Description: Finding out the Crime Rates (HOTSPOTS) of different areas of Hyderabad City using ArcGIS techniques under the guidance of Dr. Sabyasachi Maiti, at UPES
Minor Project 1: Duration 6 Months
Project Title: “DATABASE DESIGNING OF GIS”,
Under the guidance of Dr. Bhanu Gundugulu, at UPES.
Description: The report is an attempt to enhance the Geodatabases and brief overview of the geographic information system (GIS) and updating gis geodatabase for a city using a virtual city database.
Databases can store almost any sort of data. A database may have many tables, each of which stores data of a certain kind. It is not uncommon that a table has many thousands of data rows, sometimes even hundreds of thou-sands.
Minor Project 2 Duration 6 Months
Project Title: “UPDATING GIS GEODATABASE FOR A CITY USING A VIRTUAL CITY DATABASE”,
Under the guidance of Dr. Pankaj Srivatsava, at UPES
Description: Database design is the process of producing a detailed data model of a database. This logical data model contains all the needed logical and physical design choices and physical storage parameters needed to generate a design in a Data Definition Language, which can then be used to create a database. A fully attributed data model contains detailed attributes for each entity.
The process of doing database design generally consists of a number of steps which will be carried out by the database designer.
