Borghese, Inc. is a marketer of prestige cosmetics and treatment products in limited department store distribution. As the senior IT manager, was fully responsible for implementing the JBA ERP system, managing the IT department, and ensuring Y2K compliance. Managed a team of fifteen internal and external IT professionals.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer was responsible for implementing a new $1.2MM ERP application and building a robust structure around the IT department. The IT function was without strong leadership; systems process and procedures were non-existent. Y2K surveys and internal compliance assessments did not exist.
Results: The JBA system was implemented on time with wide user involvement and acceptance. Completed Y2K internal and external compliance documents to meet PWC auditing requirements. Established an IT help desk, training both IT and users on process and procedural methodologies. Created a business guide to IT, educating users on the availability and functionality of IT applications.
Formed and chaired the IT Executive Steering Committee composed of the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Vice President of Sales, and Director of Marketing. The committee was charged with executive leadership of IT projects.
Results: Held monthly steering committee meetings. Presented project budgets, vendor contracts, and critical business issues. Through these meetings, created a pro-IT environment within the executive levels, leading to acceptance of IT initiatives and spending plans.
Gryphon Development, Inc. 1997-1998

Gryphon Development, Inc., a subsidiary of The Limited Corporation, develops, manufactures and markets personal care products through the Bath & Body Works and Victoria’s Secrets retail outlets. As the EDI IT manager, was responsible for migrating EDI from legacy systems to more current, robust translators and value-added networks. Additionally, due to extensive application implementation experience, was responsible for integrating the EDI systems and business processes into the new suite of enterprise-wide applications.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
Acted as the key IT manager responsible for converting the three major customers to a new EDI system. Responsible for leading the business community through the implementation of a new enterprise-wide system initiative. Prior to both activities, information systems were patchwork and the EDI process was not integrated into the business.
Results: The JBA system was implemented on time and within budget. EDI customers were converted successfully to Sterling Commerce’s applications. Business functions now control an integrated EDI process. Both accomplishments modernized Gryphon’s information delivery and business processes.
Elizabeth Arden Inc. 1989-1997

Elizabeth Arden Inc., a prestige cosmetic company, develops, manufactures, markets and ships personal products worldwide. Demonstrated leadership and initiative in a series of progressively responsible positions in customer service, order processing, inventory deployment and application systems project management. Through these experiences, advanced to Electronic Commerce Coordinator, responsible for implementing and managing strategic corporate customer relationships in an electronic environment.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
Principal designer and implementer of Elizabeth Arden’s Quick Response system. Prior to the company’s implementation, retail customers demanded an EDI relationship through the entire product supply pipeline. Substantial financial penalties were about to be imposed for non-compliance. Elizabeth Arden’s capabilities languished at electronic purchase order receipt only – customized specifically for a single customer.
Results: Elizabeth Arden’s Quick Response capabilities converted from one electronic document with one customer to “Certified QR Vendor” with Federated Department Stores and Dayton Hudson Corporation. All customer required documents were implemented with accuracy and certified by customers. 80% of order volumes and 100% of shipments were captured and transmitted through electronic methods. Developed relationships with customer counterparts and facilitated movement of inventory through the supply chain and into the sales counter. Through efficiencies in QR, reduced order entry expenses by 60%. Began implementation of Vendor Managed Inventory with a major customer. Started initiatives to reduce labor costs through implementation of RPS and UPS bar-code and systems integration.
Acted as Co-User Project Leader for the US implementation of JBA’s Business 400 application software. Worked closely with IT professionals, software vendor consultants and the user community to ensure the applications met business-critical objectives. Developed a complete software acceptance testing process to ensure quality program execution. Responsible for user training programs throughout the Logistics order cycle. Responsible for creating user and systems documentation.
Results: Implemented the system on time and within budget. Due to custom designs in the software, reduced cost per order in order processing from $ 2.15 to $ 1.60 and distribution cost per order from $ 7.57 to $ 6.00. Inventory accuracy increased from 93 percent to 97 percent.
