• Provide human resources services for AHCA/NCAL working closely with the SVP of Finance and Administration. Responsible for overseeing all HR duties for a staff of 80. Originally hired as consultant to reshape the HR function. Also work closely with COO, and President/CEO. The outsourcing consulting arrangement with AHCA/NCAL was through Watkins, Meegan, Drury & Co. starting in May of 2005. Hired full time in June, 2006.

Accomplishments:

• Responsible for recruiting from start to finish. Develop and maintain job descriptions, advertising, interviews, due diligence including background and reference checks, participating in the hiring process, and negotiating final salary. In 4 out of 5 years, turnover has been below 12 % and as low as 9%.

• Oversee robust training programs offered to managers and staff. Seminars have included business writing, public speaking, listening skills, management skills, diversity and sensitivity, web writing, customer service and budget training.

• Successfully supervise and administer payroll and benefit administration including managing the open enrollment process, new staff orientation and exit interviews.

• Continually monitor and improve in-house processes to ensure compliance with new legislation, such as performance evaluations, EZ labor administration, communication between HR and Managers/Supervisors, and employee relations, including providing expertise on diversity and recruiting.

• Attend periodic training and 2 professional conferences a year to remain up to date with current industry trends and changing legislation.

• Organize quarterly staff breakfast meetings and company social functions including annual summer outing, holiday luncheon and monthly celebrations. New events are added as needed to help improve company unity and morale.

• Provided human resources services for the 12th ranked CPA accounting firm in the Washington DC area (Washington Business Journal) and ranked 79 out of the top 100 CPA firms in the country (Accounting Today). HR representative for all 3 offices, Bethesda, Annapolis, MD, and Tyson’s Corner, VA.

o Duties included recruiting and selection (lateral and college recruiting), employee relations, HR planning, job analysis, performance evaluations, wage and salary administration, and training and development.

• Also provided recruiting, placement and HR services for the firm’s clients on as needed basis.

Accomplishments:

• Instrumental in reducing turnover and contributing to the growth in the firm in my 4 year tenure. Turnover was reduced from 25 to less than 10 percent. The firm grew from 100 employees to 180 employees in that same time period.

• Improved and maintained the firm’s in-house training program. As the firm’s continuing professional education (CPE) coordinator, hired high quality speakers, and fine-tuned our training program to include not just tax and audit, but also communication, management and HR seminars. Scheduled, directed, coordinated and monitored this required training for all CPA accountants.

• Provided assistance with activities involving the firm’s placement on the GSA schedule, improved communication throughout the firm and worked closely with the marketing department to create firm-wide initiatives and collateral materials to better promote the firm.

• Wrote quarterly column for the firm’s not-for-profit newsletter, HR Today, and served as President of Center Stage Toastmasters, the firm’s Toastmasters International speaking club.

• Successfully produced 2 million in gross revenues with up to 60 employee weekly replacements for this national construction staffing company with headquarters in Greenwich, Connecticut. Worked in a two-person team of a Resource Manager and a Sales Manager for the profitable Beltsville, Maryland office.

• Recruited and managed 75 employees maintaining their benefits including medical insurance, 401 (k) retirement plans, pay rates, billing rates to customers and employee bonus programs.
