ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Senior Engineering

 Calculate material requirements and communicate with purchasing personnel to ensure timely delivery of raw materials/components in support of manufacturing schedules.

 Monitor and support manufacturing/fabrication, handling, shipping and customer support.

 Control quality and costs through strict attention to detail, compliance with specifications and selective purchasing/inventory management.

 Project engineer responsible for coordinating and managing ultrasonic instrumentation projects from initial concept through production.

 Mechanical design/engineering of ultrasonic transducers. Experimented with various materials, finishes and assembly techniques. Devised machining and assembly techniques appropriate for each design. Tested each prototype.

 Tested and debugged transducers throughout all stages of development.

 Provided manufacturing and purchasing with production/assembly specifications for each order.

 Provided purchasing documentation and assistance in expediting materials.

 Engineering/design of machine tooling and production testing equipment.

 Provide engineering support as required throughout the manufacturing process.

 Responsible for the specification and procurement of mechanical & electrical equipment. Directed staff and vendors to fulfill specific system automation requirements. Material costs sometimes exceeded $2 MM.

 Project Engineer for a retrofit rebuild and upgrade project budget critically underbid at $750,000. Took personal charge of driving engineering, drafting, specification and procurement, manufacturing, testing and shipping. Progress was hampered by continuously changing project requirements of the customer. Successfully negotiated the design changes required during startup. Although written off as a total loss realized a profit and was recognized before the department heads by the division vice-president.

Productivity Improvements

 Monitored contractor/supplier performance against strategic plans and implemented corrective action.

– Member of a pilot high-performance product development team. Cut down traditional “walls” between supervision, engineering, marketing and manufacturing. This streamlining of the project execution process reduced delivery time 50%

– Through close cooperation within cross-functional design teams streamlined the time and documentation necessary to produce a project. Drawings and purchasing documentation were reduced to standard bases to be modified per project. Developed a method whereby time and materials required for options could be closely tracked thus providing an accurate cost to be passed on to the customer. Standard components were agreed upon among team members to reduce repetitious specification and to obtain purchasing agreements with vendors.
