MATERIALS MANAGER reporting directly to the President. Responsibilities included the setting-up of inventory control functions, policies and procedures relating to inventory control and purchasing. Once established, the maintaining of inventory records and documentation through cycle counts and bill of materials. Established overseas buying sourcing to remain competitive in the product lines offered.
Inventory levels were maintained at a level less than start date, due to better controls and functions relating to purchasing. This level was maintained through 1997 as the product line grew three-fold. Currently inventory levels are managed against a product line consisting of approximately 30 products offered to the health care industry.
Responsible for the start-up of second plant operation when Burke made decision to manufacture their own upholstered recliner for their lift chair design. This included setting up vendors, schedules, hiring people, and purchasing equipment. After the product was discontinued the plant was converted to manufacture obese beds for the health care industry.
Responsible for three in-house plant-wide tag inventories, from the planning stages to the implementation and the completion.
Maintained material cost of goods from May of 1988 until July of 1994 with net 0% change as product was improved and re-designed to meet better quality and aesthetic needs of our customers.
Establishing better vendor communications and schedules along with significant improvement in overall quality, labor was reduced plant wide not only in indirect labor but also in direct labor. Currently the materials management department maintains over 4000 parts numbers, including purchase parts, stocked assemblies, and finished goods, along with bill of material assemblies for the products.
The labor force was reduced approximately 41%(approximately 35 people) between 2000 and 2008 while maintaining the same sales volume to better sourcing, better suppliers, and better manufacturing procedures.
Vendor relationships developed into working relationships based on Burke's needs for production, thereby weekly deliveries and more timely deliveries were achieved and maintained to better control inventory and cash flow.
In addition, involved in decision making processes for sales and promotions of product, the office and plant operations of Burke from development of policies and procedures to employee relations. Was computer back-up support from 1996 through 2008.
Due to the economic down turn in business Burke was forced to layoff 20 of their 41 employees in January of 2009. Responsibilities since then have also included unloading trucks, loading trucks, receiving goods, stocking shelves and production, processing invoices for accounts payable.
In house certification on electric fork truck.
Have developed and maintained policies and procedures to comply with FDA guidelines. Since 2007 have been part of an internal audit team to assure FDA compliance.
Current Salary - $74,000.
