Senior Portfolio Manager
Employed on a term contract basis to programme manage a team of project managers and a portfolio of projects relating to Telecoms and IT provision at a number of key government development areas. Key roles and responsibilities include:
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to TDIC Senior Management and Project Managers to define a new set of design and implementation standards on a highly complex GPON FTTH based ‘Smart City’ at a multi-million dollar development area
• Utilise highly developed Programme Management skills to realign and prioritise a number of FTTH projects that have moved out of planned budget and timescales
• Programme manage resources, contractors, budgets, materials procurement, risk and action registers
• Mentor and develop a team of Project Managers across a number of disciplines including FTTH, IPTV, IT infrastructure and Software procurement, providing leadership and support to the team

This role encompassed a number of key functions which included leading a team in excess of 500 persons engaged in a variety of FTTH, IPTV, IT and Managed Services projects for the Saudi Telecoms Company (STC). Key duties included:
• Overall responsibility for the operational, P&L, recruitment, performance, and development of a team of over 500 Technicians and managers
• Programme manage a number of diverse FTTH, IPTV, ADSL and Managed Services projects on behalf of Saudi Telecoms Company (STC)
• Act as senior consultant to STC to define, write and implement FTTH Customer installation quality standards, installation practices and SLAs
• Work with senior management at STC to provide them with technical expertise to develop training plans for their own supervisors and managers

Senior Programme Manager
Employed as a Senior Programme Manager, with senior management responsibility for a number of Project and Operations Managers.
Key roles and responsibilities were as follows:
• The end to end delivery of a £45M fibre optic infrastructure build project on behalf of a major client, from the planning stage, through the site, civils and cable build phases to final handover.
• The subsequent provision of technical advice to potential FTTx/broadband/web hosting end users on behalf of the client
• Responsible for financial and progress reporting, risk management, the recruitment of skilled contract resource, directing project staff and work teams across a number of projects on behalf of major clients such as BT Openreach, GEO Networks, Cable & Wireless and Virgin Media
Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe Ltd June 2004 to Oct. 2006
Business Operations & Development Manager
Employed by Fujitsu to deliver and drive business development within their Network Support Services Division. Duties covered a wide scope including, but not restricted to:
• The assessment of potential business opportunities, pre-tender and tender stage negotiations and presentations and the development of final bid documentation and associated Business Case submission to the Board
• The recruitment, introduction, training and development of a team of over 160 foreign technicians to work on behalf of BT was another high profile and diverse function successfully undertaken within this role
• The analysis and subsequent restructuring and a number of under-performing contracts to increase overall performance and profitability
Broadband Services Ltd, France Feb. 1998 to June 2004
European Operations Manager
Initially employed as a Project Manager, with subsequent promotion to European Operations Manager.
Key duties were as follows:
• Project Manage the design, implementation and close out of a 700KM fibre optic network build across the South of France
• Manage the overall fibre optic build and deployment in excess of 2500Km around the whole of France
• Provide technical support and guidance to a number of Project Managers to ensure the successful delivery of the overall project and a number of secondary projects
• Act as the client’s representative at high level project meetings with contractors and stakeholders

Employed originally, as an engineer before progressing to the Level 2 management of survey teams across Wales, ultimately managing a team in excess of 250 persons.
