Head Offset Press person,
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Ability to do the work of a Head Offset Press person with normal
supervision.
I have over twenty years’ experience in preparing layouts,
newspapers, and other data requests.
I utilize my professional training and experience to
provide top quality leadership that encourages in employees
the confidence that is needed to operate hardware and follow policies
and protocols.
In my role as a Folder Operator for Gannett Offset, I
worked in a fast-paced, demanding environment, which
included duties such as equipment configuration,
adjustment, and operation of press machines;
and also included performing work that involved multiple
collaborations with appropriate staff to ensure compliance
as well as adherence to concepts and methods applicable to
mechanical operations. This required me to be apprised of
the latest changes or nuances in order to enforce
regulations and policies.
I stayed informed of all changes and implemented them
accordingly.
2. Skill in setting-up, operating, adjusting,
troubleshooting, and maintaining multi-color Goss color liner web
press Goss Metro liners
Urbanite presses Goss 3 to 2 and 2 to1 and Jaw folders.
Because of my consistent, committed work experience as a
Folder Operator, I acquired proficiency in the
configuration and maintenance of press machines, and
adjusting functions that relate to assigned press requests.
I am adept at troubleshooting, possessing the mechanical
aptitude to grasp new concepts and adapt to
rapidly changing organizational and environmental circumstances.
In addition, I have exercised accuracy, attention to
detail, and sensitivity when running and maintaining
multi-color sheet fed presses and one and two color
envelope/specialty presses. I have independently
coordinated multiple web path color leads, back to back
color, floor, standard, and bollan leads,
successfully delivering quality assignments in a timely manner.
3. Ability to print and inspect
multi-color work that involves tight registrations and high levels.
My experience in planning, organizing, and coordinating
assignments and workloads extends back to 1983.
As a successful Folder/Color Operator, I
exercised attentiveness to assignments, productivity, and quality.
My key responsibilities were tied to my ability to
research, gather, and analyze complex information and draw
resultant, concrete conclusions.
Researching equipment included conducting routine
maintenance runs and using my experience with hardware to
determine the problem area.
I reviewed and assessed information meticulously to draw a logical
conclusion.
In the course of my duties as a Folder Operator/Color
Operator there were several projects requested on a daily
basis. I was responsible for the planning and management
of these tasks. In order to coordinate these work
assignments, I guaranteed that I met deadlines, using
discipline and developing effective, consistent methods
resulting in the safety and timeliness of the requested
assignments. I ensured continued growth and progress
through handling several thousand papers per hour.
As a result, I accomplished the correction of multiple
technical problems. I utilized excellent planning
techniques to ensure that operations ran smoothly and
organized the area wherein I had the authority for maximum
productivity.
4. Ability to read and interpret press statements and work jacket
specifications
With 23 years of experience in my profession, after time,
certain elements of your duties become routine and
familiar. My ability to read and interpret press
statements are definitely an asset, but because of the
familiarity of my position, at times I am able to forecast
where page numbers are located before reviewing the layout.
My reviewing and deciphering data of both press statements
and jacket specifications allow me to determine the status
and specifications of each job.
I also have trained and instructed staff to interpret
information accurately, as well as consistently performing
routine checks and maintenance to ensure the smooth running of the
press.
As a result, I am able to analyze and evaluate, on a
quantitative or qualitative basis, the
effectiveness of operations by interpreting work requests.
5. Ability to paginate, make folds, perforate, slit,
score, use a micrometer, and select from paper stocks and printing
inks.
I possess the strong technical aptitude necessary to become
a Head Offset Press person. There are certain variables
that are introduced when you are in the process of creating
and completing a work order. These variables include
layouts, paper folds, perforations and slits, which need to
be dealt with correctly. Certain protocols are necessary
to ensure the proper numbering or lettering is placed
correctly on pages. My knowledge of scores is
instrumental particularly when I have encountered the
registration of color plates. My micrometer use has been
extensive, as I routinely utilize this device to measure
the width, distance, or angles of objects.
While I have the skill of using several mixed inks, usage
of the common colors blue, cyan red, magenta, yellow and black are used
frequently.
My experience in relation to terminology, functions,
devices, and inks enables me to bring a multitude of
experience that would greatly benefit a
company that is seeking to fill a Head Offset Press person position.
