I was hired to manage all new projects, train the current staff, and revamp the existing network / server infrastructure while resolving customer issues which normally included re/training customers on the software applications. My duties required me to work with vendors for existing product issues and the introduction of new technology which gives the financial institution the server capacity needed to handle the customer based growth. I am responsible for managing the server (virtual and standalone) and network infrastructure, providing support for the corporate and branch employees. I continued to provide training for soldiers and government civilians at the Digital Warrior School (DWS) at Fort Lewis, WA before moving to the Regional office to provide technical and operational support for the Secure Wireless LAN / Flying LAN (SWLAN/FLAN) project for the Stryker Brigade and the Army Special Operations. Responsibilities involved testing the interoperability of the various components that made up the systems and integrate them with the existing combat network infrastructure. Also, I validated all documentation before being transformed into training manuals and virtual lessons. Trained soldiers how to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain the system in the classroom and in the field. I worked with other system engineers in integrating the system into the environment.

Hired to provide various training for soldiers and government civilians in order to evangelize and expand the instructional capabilities at the Digital Warrior School (DWS) at Fort Lewis. Create updated lesson plans, slides, and troubleshooting methods for 9 classes. Communicated with the units to find what type of training their soldiers needed. Provide technical and operational mission-specific support to units. Monitored training to ensure the requirements are being met. I administered 14 servers and 142 workstations, in 12 classrooms, running Windows, Solaris, and RedHat. Maintained the Cisco network infrastructure the between 8 training sites.

I was selected to work in a high security/profile environment where I managed the Audio Visual and UHF sections which controlled all communications for the SACUER (Supreme Allied Commander). The areas covered were eleven secure satellite sites, the security detail, the bulletproof cars, the SACUER’s and De SACUER’s residence, communication towers located at the SHAPE and NATO headquarters in Mons and Brussels. I also managed the Provost Marshall’s office communications and eleven conference rooms used for high profile conferences. I managed four teams for setting up interpretation booths for international conferences in Canada, Russia, France, Spain, Germany, and Turkey. I also managed the secure and non-secure networks for the base along with the windows environment.

Communications Installation Lead / Instructor – 2/96 to 3/98

I was selected to join an elite unit in the US Army to install communications at various military bases throughout the world. I managed small teams to install communications from the ground up in Europe, Panama, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Japan, Hawaii, and various locations in the United States. The projects involved installing everything from the cables and power to the networks, operating systems and satellite feeds. After performing an exceptional job in that capacity, I was selected to become and Instructor teaching the Basic Communications-Electronics Installation course which allowed me to pass on the knowledge I gained. I was also the lead system administrator and lead instructor before leaving the unit.
