Hired to help the company to reduce costs and increase profitability. Our product line, include Fire rated access doors and louvers, vision lites, fire rated glass, fire extinguisher cabinets, Roof hatches, door hardware, hose racks, firefighting accessories.

• Oversee production cells, including: CNC sheet metal cutting; press brake operations, spot welding and roll forming; TIG and MIG welding; Grinding and polishing; Powder coating lines; Assembly and final pack out.

Responsible for directing and providing leadership to all operational activities related to a manufacturing facility in Mexico with annual sales of $100MM and up to 300 direct persons in a high volume high mix, make to stock environment operating under Oracle business system.

Reporting to VP of Manufacturing.

Areas of responsibility includes: Production, Engineering, Quality assurance, Human Resources, Gral Accounting, Cost Accounting, Purchasing, Materials, Environmental and Health and Safety.

Key activities includes:

• Start up of the operation, get independency from a shelter operation.

• Develop of annual and quarterly budgets.

• Hiring and developing personnel for different areas, 5 direct reports, 30 indirect, 300 total.

• Establishment and improving on key production metrics: On-time deliveries, Scrap, Labor Efficiency, Purchase price variance, Freight, WIP variances. Inventory levels and turns, Quality.

Engineering and QA manager

Hired to help in the establishment of a new manufacturing facility, key activities include: Selection of the location, coordination of the equipment transfer, Vertically Integration Projects, selection and acquisition of new equipment and technologies. Reports to VP of Operations.

This facility has 500+ employees and 120,000 sq. ft, it is divided in two sections: Automotive accessories and recreational products.

• Responsible for Engineering, Quality, Maintenance and Tool Room teams, the operation includes: 16 injection and one-extrusion molding machines, 20,000-sq. ft. of metal fabrication section, semi-clean room for radio frequency sealing, general electromechanical assembly.

• Hire and development of key personnel for the molding operation: Tool room supervisor, Maintenance supervisor, Production Superintendent.

• Selection and purchase of injection molding machines, resin dryers, cooling towers, chillers, temperature controllers, grinders, feeding systems, mixers.

• Assist tool room and maintenance crews on the communication with equipment and tools suppliers; solve daily problems related to tools and machines.

• Coordinate and attend meeting to review non-conformance materials, ECN’s implementation, new products, improvement projects, and production priorities.

• Lead the process of QS9000 certification.

• Active participant of FMEA reviews and PPAP processes, certified as QS9000 auditor. Trained on SPC and DOE.

• Research, acquire and set up an RF sealing operation and semi-clean room to produce polyurethane reservoirs for water drinking. $400K/year savings.
