Project Description:
Pipelines are economical and environmentally safe mode of transportation of petroleum products over long distance in bulk quantities. Pipeline installations involve high capital investment and are important Assets from strategic point of view. The pipelines are buried below the ground surface and are laid for providing service for a period above 50 years. it is important to maintain the pipelines in a healthy condition during their operating life. Pipelines are protected by good quality coating and cathodic protection system. Regularly current attenuation. Additionally the pipelines are inspected regularly using IN-LINE INSPECTION TOOLS POPULARLY KNOWN AS INSTRUMENTED PIG-IPIG. The ipig is launched into the pipeline from one station and retrieved at the next station. at the receiving station the tool is pulled out from the scrapper barrel and recorded date is downloaded to a computer. This date is analyzed for pipeline features and metal loss defects present in the pipeline
Contribution:

Project Description:
The Antenna platform unit is an electro mechanical system to position the Antenna at a commanded location to search and track the targets with designed accuracy and within the specified time. The platform unit is stabilized under aircraft roll, pitch and yaw angle rates and accelerations.
The stabilization is achieved by transforming the NED (North, East &DOWN) frame command angles(AZ/EL) to the scanner frame AZ/EL angle using the instantaneous body aircraft attitudes supplied by DAP through 1553B bus.
The positioning of the Antenna on the APL as per the commanded angle is done through two brushless motors for each axis of AZ &EL, which are arranged in counter torque mode and controlled by four quadrant feature built into the system.
The position feed back of the Antenna is read by the controller through a pair of high precision resolvers coupled to the respective gimbal axes.

• Checking the accuracy of the drawings and models.
