Introduction:

I have been programming and supporting the IBM i, iSeries, and AS/400 since it was announced in June of 1988. In IBM i programming I am Brainbench RPG IV Certified. My favorite programming syntax is ILE RPG IV Free Format. In addition to programming I have worked in IBM i sales and technical support.

My chief skill is researching and solving IT problems. I am very creative and thorough at designing solutions that meet user’s needs, making their jobs easier and more efficient.

• Saved $15,000 a year in hardware maintenance and paper costs by using Workstation Customizing Objects (WSCST) to deliver AS/400 reports to HP LaserJet printers and eliminating the need for impact printers.

• Enhanced an AS/400 RPG IV based data extract system to provide files via IFS to a Windows based product labeling system to replace an AS/400 based label system.

• Created a more efficient and productive RPG IV programming environment by introducing free-format RPG IV, modules with external sub-procedures, and binding directories.

Information links were created between this system and the Payroll and Human Resources system for coverages and deductions. Data was extracted and reformatted for sending to a third party administrator firm.

• Designed and developed programs to create X.12 EDI files from interface or application system files. Designed and developed programs to translate X.12 EDI files to interface files or posting to application system files. Exchanged EDI and interface files with business partners and VANs.
