Field Engineer / Project Management Assistant 2004-2009
Southwest Systems Engineering Corporation – Sierra Vista, Arizona
A company specializing in the installation of wireless LAN networks for customers such as Safeway and other grocery chains, Fedex Ground, and Amazon.com. Initially hired on as Field Engineer to train in surveying and installation of wireless networking systems. Later transferred to Project Management (PM) Support, to perform duties such as writing and engineering reports (Asbuilts), reviewing Asbuilts prepared by co-workers before sending to customers, redesigning and updating Asbuilt templates, procedures, network diagrams etc. as well as training new personnel and assisting project managers with special duties. Devised and ran a class in MS Visio.
Since 2006, re-appointed to Field Engineer duties, assigned to various wireless LAN installation projects in different parts of the country, including pulling and terminating CAT5E, CAT6 and fiber cable to BICSI and IEEE standards. From June to December 2007, installed WIFI internet service in over 100 Safeway stores in various locations in Texas, Oregon, Washington State and California, making $35000 profit for the company. Led three teams on a week-long series of installations at a well-known grocery chain in California, saving the customer approximately $6000. Installed wireless security sensors in over 70 grocery stores on the East Coast within five weeks. Installed or upgraded wireless network systems at over 50 Fedex Ground sorting facilities. Appointed oversight of “Fedex Room” which is a storage and supply room that houses networking equipment belonging to Fedex Ground, and specifically used for installation at their facilities. Also responsible for configuring their switches and access points, manufactured by Motorola, ready for shipment to site for installation.
