GIS-Expert, Mapping, Risk & Vulnerability Assessment of Earthquake in Lucknow District Construction & Design Services, UP Jal Nigam April 2011 – To Date, Uttar Pradesh, India Generation and analysis of various thematic maps for preparation of base map and other layers; geology, geomorphology, soil, land use, hydrogeology, demography etc. Interpretation and processing of high resolution satellite data to obtain base map and synoptic view of the study area. Overlay analysis to identify the real earthquake threat areas in the district. Conducting and supervising a detailed geotechnical, structural (build environment) and questionnaire survey for in depth study of these threat areas at a micro level (building materials, year of construction, population involved, cost of assets etc). Conducting a thorough consultation with stakeholders (interactive workshop) to understand/identify their preferences and priorities and to get their views over the project. Risk and vulnerability assessment of the study area to assess site specific sensitivity of earthquakes at micro level in various areas of the district. Final synthesis and presentation of all the information in report along with illustrative maps, charts, diagrams and models.

May, 2008 – To Date, Arunachal Pradesh, India Responsibilities are mainly to provide all require baseline GIS/RS input data for EIA and EMP reports, like catchment delineation, slope and aspect calculation, soil, drainage and geomorphological unit identification etc. Land use/Land Cover mapping from remotes sensing data of IRS P 6 (LISS IV) for the entire catchment as well as area of influence to assess magnitude of impact of project implementation over current land use. Further analysis has been done to work out catchment wise silt yield for erosion prone area estimations. Catchment prioritisation also has been done based on same criteria. Demarcation of snowfed and rainfed areas for realistic estimate of water availability has also been done. Catchment Area Treatment Plan (CAT Plan) is proposed based on data generated and analysed on GIS environment. Finally all the components are discussed and summarized while report writing.

GIS Expert, Preparation of Detailed Project Report for Rehabilitation & Upgradation of NH Stretches under NHDP-1VB - Group B: Package No.5 National Highways Authority of India (NHAI)

March, 2010 – To Date, Jharkhand/West Bengal, India The tasks assigned are mainly feature extraction and analysis of SOI sheets (major features) along project road for environmental impact assessment (EIA). The major components are relief, geomorphology/landscape, land use, roads etc. Forest cover is extracted from satellite data as well as from district forest office maps. Analysis of spatial distribution of wetlands/waterbodies and possible impacts of proposed project on them are discussed in reports and deliverables. Quality Check and Assurance (QA/QC) of actual survey data has been done to rectify it and ready to use for design team. Preparation of major baseline maps (geographical location of project road, geology, geomorphology, soil, land/use, population distribution and salient characterstics etc) for EIA report and their description are discussed in report.

Remote Sensing & GIS Expert, Ghaghra Gomti Basin Plans & Development of Decision Support System UP Irrigation Department September, 2007 – February, 2010, Uttar Pradesh, India Responsibilities were to provide GIS/RS support to all major projects of Integrated Water Resource Management, development and analysis of geo-database of the study area, delineation of canal command area and catchment area of rivers and drains, developing maps and atlas on various themes like drainage, land use, cropping patterns, soils, ground water levels and its uses, distribution of shallow and deep tubewells, flood mapping of various return periods, rice and wheat productivity, surface and ground water quality, social parameters (population distribution & density, sex ratio, occupational structure, BPL population etc.), infrastructure etc. Extraction and analysis of land use from remote sensing data (IRS LISS III) of 11 million hectare over temporal basis (three seasons of the agricultural year), building of various models for further analysis of spread of surface waterlogged areas and behaviour of rivers over monsoon and lean period of the year, discrimination of forest and plantation areas, river eroded areas and their spread in pre and post monsoon periods. Crop intensification program was proposed for Zaid season to achieve higher cropping intensity depending upon ground water availability in various parts of the study basin. Detailed Analysis had been done and documented in reports for all the aforesaid themes.
