My name is Lauren Reyes, I moved to Roanoke last summer planning in going to Virginia Western full time until I received my Associates degree in Business Management. Unfortunately, I didn’t do as well as I had wanted or hoped for with my studies. I almost moved back to Richmond with my family, but decided to stick around and ended up moving to downtown Rocky Mount.

This is my mom’s company that she established quite a few years ago. I fill in for her whenever I’m in town and used to work with her last year as a full-time job. I mostly went on property walks where I would walk through an apartment to make sure everything is in working order and ready for someone to move in. I also would drive around to different apartment complexes and real estate offices to refer us to them to use when needing temporary relocation for their clients. When I would be working in the office, I would be filing, counting inventory, and answering phones. Finally, I did data entry into Oscar and paid bills with Oscar as well.

I worked at Shoney’s during high school to able to have some money of my own that I could have fun with my friends. My main responsibilities were to greet the customers, deliver their drinks and food, and bus the tables once the customers had left. Customer service was a big part of working at Shoney’s. Personally, I think that I am a very sociable, people friendly person. I get along with customers very well and love meeting new people.

In high school, I took three years of Spanish, but haven’t had the opportunity to practice it other than in school. I have lost some touch in speaking Spanish but if I were around people that spoke it fluently I would be able to pick the language right back up with no problems.
