01-Dec 04 L@M Lorryworx-pyle

Vehicle mechanic

My duties were to service diagnose/repair all types of motor vehicles.

jobs from simple servicing to full engine overhaul strip down and rebuild even to mot standard. Whilst working i was training in welding/fabrication to boost my credentials in automotive industry, for sometimes welding played a big part in mot testing.

Other duties were to go out on roadside breakdowns to our customers and repair or retrieve the vehicle.

Whilst working for L@M i used the snap on diagnosis machine on occasions where needed to for more precise and pinpoint accuracy so it would be a much faster process in resulting the customer would not be inconvenience.

Started to undertake complete and part resprays on the trucks and trailers using traditional methods.

I was disappointed to leave the company has it was like a family providing a service to the public when needed but unfortunately the company went bankrupt forcing myself and others to move on.

Jan 96-Jun01 ATS EURO MASTER -PORT TALBOT

Tyre/Exhaust Technician

Tyre/Exhaust technician was the initial role but through time and training spent at ATS i was servicing/repairing all types of motor vehicles up to the standard of MOT.

The job would vary from day to day as it was a fast fit centre simple roles as replacing exhaust to replacing ball joints front/rear brake components suspension components and welding for mot testing.

As time went on i would use the customer database to book appointments meet and greet them but eventually the job itself became a sales target game not that i didnt meet my targets if any i beat them but it was the thought of trying to sell a customer something they were believed to need did not. Therefore my thoughts were to regain the mechanical ground i trained so hard to gain and move on to a job where i could do my job properly.

Without losing the customers trust i gained through my job.

Needless to say some of the best qualities i learned came from this job such has customer satisfaction punctuality reliability and most important trust.

Aug 93-Nov97 Valley Haulage Services - Porthcawl

Trainee service mechanic

My first real job where i started for an heavy haulage company.

i was trained to service/repair all HGV/LGV vehicles my role started as a mechanics apprentice to being a mechanic. The duties included changing wheels tyres and retreading brake linings leaf springs and all major mechanical failures, also spent some time learning the electrical systems from rewiring cabs lights to the ebs system as they were air brakes.

other jobs were to resheet the back of the unit through damage greasing of all moving components and servicing the vehicles ready for there 6 weekly checks.

i could go onsite or roadside if needed to help repair/retrieve the vehicle and bring back to the yard for further assessment.

After a hard but well time spent at this company learning my trade i had a job opportunity which was for a big company and also more local to where i was living because i had started a family the job offered me a great package for which i took the opportunity.
