OBJECTIVE

My passion is in arts and entertainment through photography and videography. This is both my professional and personal goal. I will not quit until I achieve it.

SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS

Everyone goes to college to figure out what they want to do with their lives; my first semester I was one of those students. My plan was to take some fun classes my second semester and then take some time off from school. One class I chose was Intro to Film and Video. The only reason I really chose that class was because the instructor’s last name was Sweet – I thought, “This has to be a sweet class.” After the first video project, I was hooked. Production had sucked me in and I was addicted to creating media and entertainment for people. I saw movies differently and everything became a possible script for a movie short. As soon I sink myself into a new project I become a working zombie. I will not be satisfied until it is smooth, the colors are right, and has the potential to make an emotional impact on someone. Throughout college, I had a student media job that helped me learn and earn money along the way, made connections with a couple local directors and volunteered to help them on shoots, and created my own projects to work on in my ROTC program.

EXPERIENCE

U.S. Army

2LT, 442 SG BN Fort Gordon, GA 30905

S5 – As the S5 for my BOLC class, it is my duty to document the events through photography by producing an entertaining slideshow and video short, and all flyers for event promotions. In the civilian world, I would be the equivalent to an advertisement department of a company, but as one person. That’s a lot of work considering the short 8 minute video took up every free minute and most of my sleep time for a month straight. I was still working after the course ended just to ensure the 9GBs of photographs I took throughout the course were received by those who asked for them.

U.S. Army Reserves

2LT, A Co, 98th Expeditionary Signal Battalion

With my first assignment as an officer, I am a secondary Platoon Leader in charge of 52 soldiers, and the alternate Unit Movement Officer (UMO). Along with my company’s command team, I plan drill weekends and annual training. I manage my platoon’s training, complete monthly, quarterly, and annual counselings, and complete monthly inventories. As UMO, I plan and manage movement of soldiers and equipment to different training sites.

Student Assistant Media Specialist

University of Colorado – Colorado Springs, CO

Applying for this job was one of the best decisions I ever made. I got the chance to learn about production on the job; most students don’t get this opportunity. This job gave me live broadcasting experiencing on multiple positions, such as, camera, character generator operator, Technical Director, Audio Operator, and Director with both TriCaster and in a production truck. Other than video shoots I gained experience in setting up teleconferences, editing with Avid Express, Adobe Creative Suite, and Final Cut Pro, managing media in a filing system, and duplicating/reformatting analog and digital formats of media. I was never a student teacher; however, I taught many students about the basics of production in the various media courses my department set-up. The school also broadcasted several classes on its local cable channel that I had to configure to send out to air. Through this job I applied techniques for camera, lighting, and props to projects I was assigned. This job gave me the variety of experience on different types of shoots than any class would have.

Assistant Camera

“Drink A Little” and “Blues” Music Video Directed by Pete Sherman

My first professional shoot that was non-related to college! The sets and equipment you can have with a “more than broke college student budget” is mind blowing. Just a few hours on set gave me some experience of how I need to start at the bottom and work my way up into the industry through networking.
