Spearheaded the opening of the Community Hope Center in April of 1988. Currently, it is the largest charity of its kind helping those who are less fortunate within nine counties in southwest Illinois. Supervised the organizations service programs and daily operations. Worked closely with the board of directors and carried out their policies and procedures. Supervised five full-time and seven part-time staff plus a volunteer staff of over 75 individuals along with donor appreciation plus volunteer appreciation banquets. Developed programs, solicited funds, recruited board members, and trained staff. Planned and supervised two very large annual fund-raising events.

Built the not-for-profit organization into valuable service provider with over 75 volunteers offering services to more than 127,250 families throughout nine counties in south west Illinois. The Community Hope Center helps the poor, homeless, children, and the elderly with programs that meet their individual needs. The Center is a full-service crisis emergency center that provides diverse programs which are offered free of charge to those who are less fortunate. Each program is designed and implemented to help families out of their crisis situations.

Spear-headed a fundraising campaign and managed the building of a home for abused children from the ground up and when completed in was totally debt free. Today this home serves the homeless children from throughout Madison County, Illinois

Planned and administered $148,265 annual budget

Prepared federal, state and private grant proposals with a high record of acceptance.

Established referral system for those in need of counseling and assistance.

Missouri River Flood

Spearheaded the quick acquisition of food, blankets, housing and counseling for the flood victims of the Missouri, Mississippi and Illinois Rivers. Managed the Community Hope Centers’ flood relief actions by recruiting volunteers, acquiring essentials and delivering them to people who where trapped and couldn’t get out of their flooded towns for help. Fund raised and acquired millions of dollars of product for the victims of the flood. Coordinated those donating to effectively receive and distribute their products to the flood victims from throughout five counties in southwest Illinois.

• June 10, 1998- Crystal M. Davis received the Local Jefferson Award. Presented to her by the Institute for Public Service in Washington, DC for outstanding work in helping those less fortunate. They paid her way to Washington to be apart of a three day event to present her with this and another award.

• June 17, 1998- the Jacqueline Kennedy Onasis Award for the Greatest Pubic Service Benefiting Local Communities was awarded to Crystal M. Davis at the Supreme Court Building in Washington, DC. Only 5 people received this award out of 1400 nominations. It is the highest honor that an individual can acquire for their volunteer work in their community.
