Environmental Health & Safety Manager (CONTRACT POSITION DIRECT)
Manage complete adherence to local, state, and federal regulations for the meat processing, packaging, and transportation operations that maintains 500 employees on 3 shifts. Oversee training content and delivery to ensure all employees comprehend materials. Manage waste water treatment facility. Water and Title V air permitting. Oversee the plant security vendors. I evaluate vendors to save the company money on all areas that I am charged.
Selected Responsibilities:
• Formulate Training and train front line supervisors to deliver engaging training that ensures compliance and the team members “get it” as everyone learns at different paces. I write training, I train the trainer, I deliver the best training that has ever been given as I provide logic and connections to real life with my delivery that creates “buy in”.
• Oversee plant waste water department that has responsibility for 120,000 gallons of waste water per day. My team ensures proper levels of corrective measures to warranty company regulatory compliance.
• Safety Audits are a large part of the compliance strategy and I review all audits and provide guidance to the auditors. I continually change the audit forms to gather required compliance information and eliminate complacency.

Safety Health & Environmental Manager
Ensure complete adherence to local, state, and federal regulations through best practices and continual training of behavior based safety. Create and deploy programs for wind turbine manufacturing facility as well as wind park construction sites across the United States. I train staff to understand MSDS compliance of use, shipping, and storage for hazardous materials. Develop and publish safety policies, procedures and training criteria in accordance with DOT, DNR, ANSI, and OSHA for North America operations. Oversee investigations of accidents/incidents and near misses. Ensure true root cause analysis, the development and deployment of corrective actions and ensure adherence. Establish programs such as PPE, chemical handling, hearing conservation, waste water, air quality, respirator program, and first responders (medical & spill control). Lead team of 10 safety professionals in the manufacturing facility and construction site locations within United States. Develop train the trainer and training materials for end users in areas such as “fall protection”, “Arc Flash Safety”, and “crane safe operation”. I provided training and certifications for powered equipment operators and crane operators.
Selected Achievements:
• Develop, deploy and oversee plant and wind park EHS programs when company opened the turbine manufacturing facility and started with an empty factory and all new floor workers.
• Successfully manage Worker’s Compensation Program by working with occupational doctors and insurance companies, able to reduce time off and reportable injuries to manageable level.
• Successfully negotiated terms for $250M contract and saved company $750K by discussing articles to client, resolving outstanding issues, sending finalized draft to attorney, and executing new terms with no penalties or concessions.
• Designed lockout device for R&D group to fulfill contract with client in Spain. Product was tested, approved, and deployed within 2 weeks, enabling company to obtain withheld $30M payment from customer.
• Asked by VP to turn around over budget, behind schedule project and saved company $1M+ by assessing issues, acquiring needed parts and manpower, and resolving conflict between team and supply groups.
• Led facility start up and preparation for ISO 14001 registration Took manufacturing facility from bare walls to fully operational with trained employees and ready for ISO certification audit
• Established plant as a “green,” zero waste facility by coordinating the recycling of wood, cardboard, copper, metal, and oil and hauling of remaining trash to power plant for production of steam / electricity. Efforts generated significant cost savings and completely eliminated plant’s use of landfill.

• Represented company for 4 years as House Captain for Christmas in October charitable event, collecting construction materials to repair / upgrade hundreds of homes in impoverished area of Kansas City.
