WORK EXPERIENCE
Design Engineer Assistant
Manufacturing Systems Laboratory Aug 10- May 11
The University of Texas at Arlington, Arlington, Texas
Selected Contributions:
Worked on designing the components using SOLIDWORKS that are used to mount the Quadrotor system to a robotic arm to calculate the force and torque equations for each motor in the system.
Also worked on fabrication of the final robot body using fiber glass and carbon fiber by designing the sheet metal profile using Solidworks and cutting the Fiber Glass using the Advanced Automatic Laser Cutting Machine. Designed the wheel profile and the tank body configuration for the NASA RASC-AL 2011 competition.
Performed Design for Manufacturability(DFMA) analysis on complex designs and made necessary changes to make it compatible with the 3D printer used for rapid prototyping and make designs as per the requirements keeping in mind the low level engineering specifications.
Logistically re-routed the campus mailing route structure using the Master Scheduling and Just in Time principles for enabling faster delivery and easier sorting of the campus USPS mail room on campus at The University of Texas at Arlington
Manufacturing Engineering Intern Aug 07 - April 08
Regency Ceramics Limited, Yanam, India
Selected Contributions:
Implemented Just-in-Time (JIT) strategy to optimize throughput and lower warehouse costs by as much as 10%.
Served on Quality Assurance team, developing guidelines and procedures to improve standards and performance using ISO standards. The Organization pertains to ISO 9001:2008 Standards for Quality Management.
Provide quality engineering support to production and development engineering. Also followed procedures for achieving continous process and product improvements.
Also performed Case and Time Study and suggested a time schedule for the automated tile manufacturing system designed and developed by Welko Industries.
Designed and implemented methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.
. Worked on the shop floor working with lathes for machining the Hydraulic press equipment, performed operations like milling, grinding, turning and drilling to precision requirements for making the press plates for the tile manufacturing process. Has also worked in the department which makes cylindrical rods for the kilns using Turrett Lathes and performed tests to measure the strengths of the rods by using various methods which also involved Non-Destructing laser testing.
Have been successful in reducing the end to end wastage by 23% using lean manufacturing principles and more efficiently utilized the raw material in the tile manufacturing process.
Quality Engineer Intern April 06-May07
Bharath Heavy Electricals Limited, Hyderabad, India
Selected Contributions:
Significantly reduced waste and end-to-end production time by leveraging expertise with Statistical Process Control (SPC).
Developed accurate, operations-wide measurement standards to increase production, minimize non value-added time and reduce cost for the process of Steel Extrusion.
Supported Product Engineers and Quality Program Manager with customer interfaces as necessary on quality related issues.
Led and actively participated in Continuous Improvement (CI) - improving Safety, Quality, Efficiency, and Delivery through data driven projects.
Assured data availability and integrity for all quality related data, consolidated and reported quality results and initiated corrective action requests as needed.
Applied the Business Process Reengineering (BPR) concepts for achieving the breakthroughs in Quality, Flexibility, and Responsiveness and also to reduce the cost to compete in the market and have also worked on MRP and ERP. Developed an ability to analyze and solve problems that arise in a business structure, reprocess the whole structure and develop new concepts that help the business to evolve and flourish in the competitive marketAssisted with development and implementation of quality audits.
Responsible for developing, applying, revising and maintaining quality standards for processing materials into partially finished or finished products.
Conducted trade-off analyses on equipment designs to implement solutions that optimize the user-machine interface.
