To apply my knowledge and skills of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering principles through extensive research and course work to benefit the Frontier wind and its mission in the future.

EDUCATION

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) Daytona Beach, FL

Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering Expected: May 2011

Area of Concentration: Aerodynamics and Propulsion GPA: 3.85 /4.0

Park College of Engineering and Technology (PCET) Tamilnadu, India

Bachelor of Engineering in Aeronautical Engineering May 2008

Area of Concentration: Aerodynamics and Structures

RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

Simulation of boundary layer flow control using a synthetic jet actuator on CFX:

The goal of the project was to study about flow separation and simulate the pressure over a bump using CFX. The flow separation was analyzed for two cases, one with disturbing the flow and the other without disturbing the flow. Being a member of 3 person team, my task was to analyze the flow over a bump for different conditions using CFX and validate the results.

Computational Fluid Dynamics Project:

Numerical coding of Euler Equation for two dimensional bump using FORTRAN. The code written in FORTRAN worked well and the results were viewed using post processing software, TECPLOT.

The Panel method code for NACA 63215 airfoil was written in MATLAB. The aerodynamic coefficients like lift, drag and moment calculated using panel method was compared with the theoretical values. I gained the programming skills and understand the theory of airfoils better.

Computational analysis of NACA 2412 airfoil using FLUENT. The airfoil was modeled in GRIDGEN and analyzed using FLUENT. The aerodynamic coefficients calculated using computational method was compared with Theoretical values.

Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of a solid circular cylinder using NASTRAN

The objective is to find the value of force which will initiate failure from fracture or yield using the Von Mises Failure Theory. The model was created in CATIA and the FEA analysis was done on the cylinder using NASTRAN and the results were verified by using hand calculation. The error lies in the range of 2-3%

Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of a circular cylinder for different L/D ratios using NASTRAN

For different L/D ratios, the solid circular cylinder was analyzed for its shear force, shear stress and bending stress using NASTRAN. The FEA results were then compared with the theoretical results.

Computational Analysis of low Aspect ratio wings:

The Aerodynamic performance of low aspect ratio wings at low Reynolds number applicable to micro air vehicle was studied in the project. The wing model (NACA 0012 airfoil shape) was created in GAMBIT and analyzed for different Reynolds numbers at various angle of attack in FLUENT to obtain the local pressure distribution. Being a Project lead of 4 person team in this undergraduate project, I gained the valuable leadership skills and the responsibility of being a leader in a project.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Graduate Teaching Assistant, (GTA) Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) August 2009-Present

Being the Instructor of Physics I lab, I have to teach the basic physical concepts to undergraduate students from different majors. I have to help them in doing experiments, calculations and writing report. I have to conduct exams, quizzes and assign grades at the end of semester. As a GTA, I gained the leadership skills and decision- making skills by working with people from different cultures.

Tutor, Department of Mathematics, ERAU January 2009-Present

Tutored undergraduate students in Mathematics in the areas of Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, Numerical methods. Provided one-one guidance to students who struggle in Math and to ensure their success by closely working with them.

Tutor for high school students, summer camp, ERAU June 2010

To ensure the importance of mathematics and physics to high school students and make them to develop interest towards engineering. High Schools from Volusia County participated in the event.

Chemistry Lab Assistant, ERAU January 2009 – July 2009

Assisted the Professor in class and to set the experiments in Lab, and helped the students in doing experiments .I had to be in charge of class in the absence of professor.

Grader, Department of Aerospace Engineering, ERAU January 2009 – Dec 2009

Worked as a grader for the Professor who taught Aerodynamics. I have to grade the assignments and quizzes and to invigilate exams in absence of professor.
