PROFILE

Technical Superintendent with Transocean Shipping Ventures Private Limited, leading ship managers and operators of tankers fleet. Together with thirteen years of sailing experience through various positions including Chief engineer on Merchant tanker Vessels. Have worked on diverse type of oil and product tankers trading worldwide. Hold a Bachelor’s degree and also diploma in Mechanical engineering from Mumbai University.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

TECHNICAL SUPERINTENDENT

Transocean Shipping Ventures Private Limited Dec 2011 – Present

• Manage and safely operate the vessels in accordance with the Company’s HSEQ procedures and in compliance with the National/ International statutory & regulatory requirements.

• Evaluate the HSEQ performance of suppliers and sub-contractors.

• Control vessel’s expenditure based on approved budgets.

• Procure adequate spares to ensure that minimum defined levels are maintained.

• Monitor the vessel’s planned maintenance system and means to reduce operating costs.

• In the event machinery failure, promptly arrange repairs and required spare parts.

• Conduct regular ship inspections on board the vessels.

• Evaluate and appraise ship board personnel on their HSEQ performance.

• Ensure up to date dry dock & repair defect lists are maintained for the assigned vessels.

• Implement preventive measures to avoid reoccurrence of machinery break-down.

• Plan implementation of changes to the SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, Class, Flag State, Oil Major and other relevant new regulations.

• Liaise with interested parties, such as Class, Oil Majors, Ship Owners, Suppliers Etc.

• Liaise with Fleet Personnel department to ensure that the Crew and Officers are adequately competent and experienced for the vessel.

• Identify areas of training to up-grade skills and knowledge of ship board personnel.

• To liaise closely with HSSEQ department for safe operation of the vessel.

CHIEF ENGINEER – (PRODUCT TANKER)

Key responsibilities:

• Head of the Engine Department and is responsible for efficient operation, repair and maintenance of all the machinery and equipment onboard the vessel and for the administration of the ER department.

• Overall in charge – planning, operations, maintenance, logistics management of entire ship.

• Maintain in good working order the ship's electrical and mechanical systems.

• Responsible for: Main and aux. engines, generators, refrigeration, air conditioning, heating, water supply, desalination, boilers and advance Diesel knowledge.

2ND ENGINEER- (PRODUCT TANKERS)

Key responsibilities:

• Responsibilities aboard diesel ships, Main engine, boilers, air, A/C and refrigeration compressors, various pumps etc. supervision of up to 8 assistants in the administration of matters affecting physical operation of the ship.

• Assigned/scheduled/inspected work; set up preventive maintenance programs; handled inventory management/control, stores/parts/consumables ordering; burning of heavy fuel oil required continual troubleshooting/problem-solving in the maintenance of propulsion system. Hands-on management included all ship machinery.

3RD ENGINEER- (CRUDE AND PRODUCT TANKERS)

• Supervised 4 assistants in the maintenance of boilers and auxiliary engines and equipments; responsible for fueling, storing and purification of fuel, test/maintenance of correct boiler water and/or main jacket water, and maintenance, repair, overhaul or replacement of related systems and components.

4TH ENGINEER- (CRUDE AND PRODUCT TANKERS)

OMI Marine Services LLC. (Stamford, U.S.A.) May 2000 – May 2004

Key responsibilities:

• Supervised 3 assistants handled small electrical maintenance, start-up/shut-down of fresh water distillery system, transfer and storage of water, and operation, maintenance and repair of the lubrication system, including storing, transfer and purification.

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE

• Crude oil tankers (2 nos) and product tankers (3 nos), have firsthand experience of taking over from yard (new delivery) as well as from other management, preparation and also Dry-docking and handing over to other management.

• Self was involved in carrying out Dry docking of 2 Vessels and Takeover of 5 Vessels through last 13 years of sea service and possess good knowledge about docking Preparations, inspections and repairs.

• Sound basic computer applications and installation knowledge.

MARINE EDUCATION

Certificate of Competency (Motor) as CHIEF ENGINEER of a foreign going ship issued by the MCA / U.K. April 2008.

Dangerous Cargo Endorsement (Management level) certificate for Oil.
