Professional History

Sr. Programmer Analyst(Contract to hire), Allant Group, Naperville, IL April 2011 – Present

Working on design and implementation of the Consumer Data Enhancement Service project. The purpose of the project is to find the best match candidate from the database based on user input, i.e. user’s contact details and append the attributes to the user details, such as demographic information, behavior characteristics and several other tens of thousands of attributes stored in database. The technologies being used are Spring, XML, JUnit, Mockito, Maven and Java1.6.

Sr. J2EE Developer(Contract), Coventry Healthcare, Downers Grove, IL Dec. 2010 – Feb. 2011

Implemented new functionality in the Security module of the Bill Review and Claim application. It involved implementing new Event Inquiry and Event Maintenance tabs to display the data for Event Code Ranges and Series, validating the fields on those two screens, writing two new Entity Beans and implementing add/insert/delete functionality of the data through the front end interface and Entity Beans. Technologies used were EJB1.0, XML, XSL and Javascript.

Sr. Middleware Application Developer/Administrator, Pepsi Beverages Company, Schaumburg, IL Sept. 2007 – Dec. 2010

Participated in Integration Architecture, led the efforts of Application Design at a low level, carried out the implementation, collaborated with QA team to test, collaborated with Vendor support to troubleshoot & fix the vendor specific issues and deployed in production.

• Designed and implemented Order Monitor / Auto Case Pick project -- a distributed application, based on SOA architecture. It streamlined and standardized the Order processing from disparate order sources, enabling the required changes to be applied centrally instead of changing at several places for each of the order sources.

• In another component of the same project, implemented a solution that allowed a third party Automated Picking Solution to pull the orders data and build pallets, applying the orders adjustment to the picked data, writing the adjusted data back to source tables, calling servlet downloads for the data to be downloaded to the handheld devices for the invoices to be printed and to be billed to customers. The application comprised of Database Poller, Service Bus and Data Service components. The technologies used in the project were Java, J2EE, JMS, XML, XQuery, JDBC, JSP, Struts & Javascript.

• Implemented several other re-usable Web Services, such as calculating Delivery Fee for the orders that don’t meet the threshold of Order Quantity or Total Order amount; integration of Peoplesoft CRM and Microsoft CRM applications. This avoided the duplication of efforts, thus reducing the operating cost for the company.

• Diagnosed a memory leak in one of the applications that was causing the Database Server to crash due to running out of space. Proposed a solution for the same that helped fix the problem.

• Performed several Weblogic Administration tasks, including development & implementation of a process to automate the task of deployment, creating JDBC/JMS resources, configuring Node Manager to monitor/manage the admin & managed servers and to monitor the Weblogic Timer Listeners using WLST. This provided high availability to critical Production systems and reduced the time and operating cost.

• Produced Low Level Design and Solution Spec documents for the ACP project and several other Web Services utilizing Visio / UML.

Sr. Enterprise Developer, Kingsway Financial, Elk Grove Village, IL May 2005 – Sept. 2007

Designed and developed CRI (Comparative Rater Interface) a distributed application for issuing Non-Standard Auto insurance policy, utilizing Struts, JSP, custom tags, EJB, JMS, SQL Server and Oracle.

• The goal of the above project was to eliminate a 3rd party software which was a black box and the business team knew very little about it. With very little business requirements and very tight deadline, played a key role in design and development of the software meeting the deadlines that improved / automated auto insurance quote process. As new resources were added to the project, mentored other developers and got them up to speed to meet the tight deadlines.

• In the 2nd phase of the above project, led a team of 3-4 developers. The responsibilities included new development, enhancing and maintaining the product, authoring design document, supporting the production build, analyzing and escalating the production/other issues to the team members, as well as fixing them, managing the team members, attending meetings, communicating with users to resolve their issues, communicating with Business Analyst/Project Manager to clarify and gather the requirements.

• Contributed towards the hiring process of new developers.

Programmer Analyst (Contract job), Granite State Mgmt. & Resources, Concord, NH Oct. 2004 – Feb. 2005

• Designed and developed a web based software for Student Loan Application and Claim Origination Guarantee System. The technologies used were Struts, Java, JSP, Servlets, EJB’s, hibernate, DB2 and JBoss.

Software Developer, Dialog/Thomson Financial, Burlington, MA May 2003 – March 2004

• Designed and developed an application which involved mapping of two topics hierarchies. It involved importing the source hierarchy and the mapping model, parsing the input xml file, storing the results in relational database, allow user to edit the mapping model, release and export the edited mapping model and the topics hierarchy, as an XML file. The project further involved automating the process of zipping and uploading the XML file to an ftp server and sending a notification via email. The XML file was used as an input to the process of tagging the topics, so that clients can get news stories for those topics.

• Developed the software for adding/editing a topic in the system, adding/mapping different attributes to it, searching and managing the topic hierarchy.

The technologies used were J2EE, Java, JSP, JDBC, Servlets, XML, Oracle9i, PL/SQL, and Javascript. The framework involved was MVC Architecture. Responsible for all aspects of the project, such as data modeling, backend, server side and front end development. Backend development involved writing several stored procedures.

Software Developer, Fuelspot, Inc. (A premier trade management software and services firm for refined products and other commodities), North Chelmsford, MA Aug. 2000 – Aug. 2002

(Fuelspot, Inc. started in 1999, providing the leading technology in the Energy Trade and Exchange Industry.)

• Designed and developed new functionalities for the front end and middle layer of Axis Price Management (APM) project. Initial software is written in COBOL. The goal of this project was to convert the existing software in Java, plus to provide the suppliers and buyers in the fuel industry with the ability to make a decision about the best possible price for the fuel products and do terminal and basis buildups and setups. The tools & technologies used were Java/J2EE, JSP, Servlets, JMS, SQL, Weblogic and Oracle servers.

• Wrote a multi-threaded Java program to mass post the trades on the T&E platform and to determine its performance. It also involved writing SQL scripts and tuning the Weblogic server.

• Developed new features and supported their existing software for front, middle and backend layers. The software was a trade and exchange (T&E) platform, which provided capabilities to the traders, suppliers and marketers to post and execute their trades, to do their jobs simply and efficiently and to grow in their business. Technologies used were Java/J2EE and SQL.

• Contributed towards helping the peers with their technical questions, new developers in setting up their environments (e.g. to install Weblogic and oracle server and to troubleshoot the problems with the new environments). Also participated actively in the hiring process of new developers.

Software Developer, Destiny WebSolutions, Inc., Conshohocken, PA August 1998-April 2000

• Northern Trust project, Phase 1 & 2: Worked as a vertical slicing functionality (front-end to backend) developer of the phase 2 of a three-tier project. The project provided a customized online banking solution for a private bank using CORBA architecture. It provided the reports viewing and transactions capabilities, fetching data from two different databases (Sybase and M&I). Used C++, RSL (OO language), dynamic HTML, JavaScript and Shell Script. Also utilized Rational Rose to create sequence and class diagrams.

Graduate Student Projects

• Operating System projects: Implemented multi-threaded and object oriented features of Java using synchronization tools such as Semaphores, Monitors and Conditional Rendezvous to solve and simulate smoker and elevator problems.

• Data Structure project: Built a Minimum Spanning Tree for an undirected, connected & weighted graph using Kruskal and Prim's algorithms using 'C'.
