Speed Control of Bridle Rolls in the Metal Sheet Tension Leveler – Sharjah, UAE
Company: Megatech Control Fzco, Dubai
Client: Profiles RHF, UAE
Scope: To implement a load share control philosophy to control the speed of entry and exit bridle rolls in metal sheet tension leveler. Two groups of four bridle rolls each at entry and exit side of the leveler are controlled by their respective drives. The configuration includes networking of HMI PC, Drives with USS protocol and PLC through Profibus. The main task is to maintain the line speed without any speed variations among the bridle rolls. The control philosophy implemented is that among the four bridle roll drives, one is configured as master which will pass the speed set point to others. The PLC controls the entire line with all necessary interlock for the process and the drives. The main visualization screens for the process are provided by Siemens Protool/Pro RT HMI package. Record keeping is another important asset it can archive up to 5,000 messages being monitored and reported to the system.
Software: Step 7 – Simatic Manager, Drive Monitor, Pro-Tool.
Hardware: SIMATIC S7-400, CPU 414 – 2DP, Siemens 6RA70 DC Drives.
Responsibility:
Design of Master – Slave PI loops in drives for 8 dc motors of different ratings.
Design of Error loop for each slave drives to eliminate disturbance.
The Control philosophy was implemented by parameterising Siemens 6RA70 DC Master Drives.
PLC S7 –400 was programmed to control all the drives considering the necessary interlocks.
HMI was developed using Pro-Tool.
Commissioned at site
