ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Controlling plant upsets and maintaining clear communication and coordination with other sections of the plant.
Operating, monitoring and controlling assigned work area through DCS stations safely & efficiently.
Condition monitoring of all rotary equipments, reporting all equipment, instrument defects and leads immediately to shift In Charge and taking possible corrective actions.
Periodical logging of parameters, regular routine checks of all equipments and units to ensure that they are functioning correctly in accordance with standard operating procedures.
Providing reliable and accurate information on plant condition and status to the Shift Supervisor and Shift Controller regarding maintenance activities and daily management reports.
Handling emergency incidents (Fire, Gas leak, Plant Shutdowns etc.) and ensure emergency plans and procedures are adhered to.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Experience in various process such as Hydrodesulphurization, Reforming, Shift Conversion,Co2 absorption and removal,Methanation,Compression, Synthesis of Ammonia and Purge gas Recovery unit
Experience in handling various equipments like turbines of different types, multistage centrifugal pumps, High Pressure Compressors, Boilers and Duplex side fired Reforming furnace and catalytic vessels
Experience in unit operations such as absorption, adsorption etc
Familiar with Emergency Shutdown systems and PLC based Equipments
Experience in cooling tower operations.
WORK PROFILE:
Worked in ammonia production plant .Controlling , monitoring and recording the process parameters of all the sections concerned with outmost priority to safety .Taking part in daily activities like field rounds, vibration monitoring, bearing temperature monitoring physically, handling of fire and safety equipments depending on necessity, good housekeeping practices.
Reforming inspection for any flame impingement, doghouse hotspots, shell bulging, shell hot spots, tube hotspots-hot bands, refractory damage, measuring skin temperatures with Laser beam pyrometer

INDUSTRIAL EXPERIENCE
Presently working as operator in M/s. Nagarjuna Fertilizers & Chemicals Limited, Kakinada from June 2008.NFCL an ISO-9001-2000 series, ISO-14000 & ISO-18000 certified company & also was honored a 5 star honor from British safety council, is having a design capacity of 1800MT per day of Ammonia 3000MT per day of Urea from 2 plants. I have been in 3 annual turnarounds of the plant and having good hands on experience in startups, shutdowns and trouble shootings of ammonia plant. I have experience in operation of compressors, high-pressure pumps, Low-pressure pumps single as well as multistage and vacuum systems . I have good knowledge and working experience in all sections of Plant, it covers all gas, liquid handling.
PLANT PROFILE:
M/S Nagarjuna Fertilizers and Chemicals Ltd. Is one of the largest largest Urea manufacturing fertilizer plants of India and biggest in south India and first to be based on natural gas. It is a Rs. 2,500 crore project, located at Kakinada; A.P. NFCL successfully completed its expansion project of similar capacity (each of 1050 MTPD of ammonia) and now running efficiently with mean 130% over the calendar year.
Ammonia process technology is supplied by M/S Haldor Topsoe of Denmark and designed by Snamprogetti, Italy. NFCL is having its own boilers, utilities and captive power generation (33MW). M/S NFCL conferred with ISO-9002 and ISO-14001 Certification from BVQI. Recently has gone for OHSAS-18001 and achieved a 5STAR honor from British Safety Council.
I have good knowledge and experience in all sections of Ammonia plant. Plant consists of the following sections.
NAPTHA STORAGE: Floating roof atmospheric pressure tanks,
Raw Naphtha: 2 nos. – Capacity; 3450 KL
Sweet Naphtha: 1No – Capacity, 7050 KL
SULPHUR REMOVAL SECTION:
PRE DESULPHURIZATION: It Consists deaeration, hydrogenation and
Stripper Sulphur content in the Naphtha is
Reduced to a level of 10 ppm
FINAL DESULPHURIZATION: It Consists feed stockpreheater,hydrogenator
and H2S ABSORBERS. Sulphur content is
reduced to a level of 0.01 ppm
REFORMING SECTION: System consists of adiabatic pre-reformer,
Primary Reformer and Secondary Reformer.
Methane content is reduced to 0.2%
ADIABATIC REFORMER: Having Catalyst RKNGR contains magnesia
(Mgo) Operating at 550 o c. It reforms higher
hydrocarbons into Lower hydrocarbons.
PRIMARY REFORMER: Side firing reformer having 190 tubes in two
Chambers subjected by 360 Natural gas/
Naphtha Burners. The nickel based catalyst
operating at 35Ksc/ 730 o c.
SECONDARY REFORMER: Having Catalyst RKNGR contains magnesia
(Mgo) operating at 550 o c. It reforms higher
hydrocarbons into lower hydrocarbons.
CO-CONVERSION : High temperature, Iron-chromium catalyst
CO-Converter and Low temperature
Zinc-copper catalyst CO-converter
Operating at 350 o c and 190 o c.
ACID GAS REMOVAL
SECTION: Giammarco Vetrocoke (GV) solution
Absorption Process. Absorption columns
operating at 30Ksc.
By feeding lean and semi lean solutions,CO2
Slip outlet of absorber is reduced to 500
PPM.
Regeneration takes place in HP regenerator
steam input operating at 1.1 Ksc and in LP
regenerator by flashing and operating at 750
mm of water column, boosting up the CO2 to
0.8 Ksc by booster compressor.
SYN.GAS LOOP AND
CONVERTER: Syn.gas loop waste heat boiler, heat
exchanger,Chillers, coolers and separators
operating at 149 Ksc iron based converter
having two beds with Inter cooling heat
exchanger and cold shot.
PRODUCT AMMONIA
AND WASH SECTION: The separated ammonia is purified in
letdownVessel at 25Ksc and flash vessel at
0.1 Ksc and Ammonia pumps. Ammonia
vapour from letdown vessel feed to
absorber and distillation column operating
at 15 Ksc and 20 Ksc respectively.
REFRIGERATION UNIT : The Syn.Gas in loop is cooled to - 13 c by
Operating Ammonia refrigeration chillers at
6ksc and 1.2 ksc.
CRYOGENIC SECTION: PROGRAMME LOGIC CONTROLLER
Based Cryogenic unit for hydrogen recovery
from loop Purge gas supplied by COSTAIN,
UK.
FURNACES: Natural draught and balanced draught
Furnaces.
BFW TREATMENT
AND BOILERS: Deaeration, Chemical dosing and high
pressure BFW pumps, two waste heat steam
boilers and Steam superheated operating at
105 Ksc
STEAM TURBINES: Extraction and condensing type turbine
(20MW, 108 KSC, 510 o C inlet flow 240
T/HR) to drive centrifugal synthesis gas
compressor supplied by Hitachi, Japan.
Injection cum condensing type steam turbine
(9MW, 39 ksc, 370 o C) drive centrifugal
process air compressor supplied by
MANGHH Germany.
Condensing type turbine (6.5MW, 39 ksc,
370 o C) to drive centrifugal ammonia
refrigeration supplied by MANGHH
Germany.
COMPRESSORS: We have both Centrifugal and Reciprocating
Type Compressors.
CENTRIFUGAL
COMPRESSORS: a) 4 stage horizontal split casing process air
Compressor which sucks ambient air and
Compress it upto 34 ksc with dry seals
(ambient air) Capacity : 55085nm3/hr.
b) 4 stage vertical split casing synthesis gas
Compressor in 3 stages. It compresses make-
up as from 24.5 ksc to 145 ksc. Fourth stage
is recirculator to increase synthesis gas
pressure from 140 to 150 ksc. With oil seals.
Make-up gas Capacity: 1,50,000 nm3/hr.
Recirculator Capacity: 6,00,000 nm3/hr.
c) 3 stage horizontal split casing Ammonia
Refrigeration Compressor is to compress
Ammonia vapors from 0.05 ksc to 25 ksc with
Oil seals.
RECIPROCATING TYPE
COMPRESSORS: Double acting horizontal balance opposite
Crosshead type reciprocating compressor for
Compressing Recycle gas supplied by
Khosla-Crepelle.
COOLING TOWERS: It consists of 2 pumps of capacity
18,000 NM3 /HR. Driven by 1.2 MW motor
and 1 pump driven by condensing type
turbine. Tower designed by Paharpur
Cooling Towers.
