OBJECTIVE:

When I graduated from college in May of 1988 I was also commissioned as a lieutenant in the United States Army. After attending the Officers Basic Course in Georgia I was shipped to Bad Kreznach Germany to the 8th infantry division. During my time over there one of my soldiers was injured in an automobile accident. Because his family was stateside a medical proxy was needed. I became his medical proxy and began to make the medical decisions for his care. Since his injuries were substantial he was moved to Landstuhl and transferred stateside to Walter Reed. At that time, I became very interested in the medical field, especially the nurses, who met all of his needs and helped me understand what I needed to do as a proxy. I have always wanted to help people and found my calling in nursing. After the birth of my first child; I decided to go back to school for my nursing degree. Being involved in the total care of my patients has been very important to me thru out my career as a staff nurse, nurse manger, and now as a Nurse practitioner. I am very passionate about teaching, and educating patients to empower them to make changes which will improve their health.

About me personally: Married for 22 years to my husband Charles and have 4 children. My husband is retired Military and works for the Department of Defense. As a military family we have been lucky enough to be stationed in Georgia, Tennessee, Ohio, and Germany. Brittnee is 20 years old and a sophomore at OSU, Trey is 17years old; a senior at Pickerington Central High School plans on attending the University of Toledo in the fall, Gabrielle is 15 years old and a sophomore at PHSC and Kearsten is 12 years old and in the 7th grade. They keep me busy with soccer, track, basketball and softball. I have 3 dog’s twister who is a Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix, coco who is a poodle and ziggy who is a dash hound. Ziggy is the newest to our family my daughter Gabby brought him home from a shelter one weekend. He does not like to be alone and once while I was taking the other two dogs for a grooming appointment, I came home to a police cruiser in my driveway and my house alarm going off. Ziggy had pulled the chair across the kitchen floor setting off the motion detector and the alarm. Thank goodness the police officer had a sense of humor. Spending time with my family is very important to me and they have been instrumental in the progression of my career and educational goals.
