DELPHI & GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATIONS

NORTH AMERICA COMMODITY MANAGER – MACHINING EQUIPMENT & MOLDS 2007 - 2009

Managed a Purchasing Team responsible for the procurement of capital equipment and injection mold tooling for 62 manufacturing plants throughout North America. Annual expenditures ranged from $52 to $75 million dollars.

Equipment purchased included; machining centers, lathe & turning centers, production grinders, cold and hot form presses. In addition, the Team was responsible for the purchase of plastic injection mold tooling.

Responsible for developing and implementing corporate strategies for Machining Equipment and Mold Tooling working in conjunction with our Engineering teams. Frequent travel throughout US and Mexico occurred to accomplish corporate goals

Savings over this period averaged 15% for Machining Equipment and 38% for Tooling. Low Cost Country sourcing, primarily from China, South Korea and Mexico for Tooling, increased from 32% to 78% of annual spend. Supply base was reduced 60%.

GLOBAL COMMODITY MANAGER – TOOLING & ABRASIVES 2005 – 2007

Managed a Global Purchasing Team to develop and coordinate corporate strategies for the perishable tooling and abrasives commodity. Supervised a team of Buyers to coordinate and leverage cost savings opportunities with major manufacturers and service providers.

Developed and successfully implemented multi-million dollar Tooling Commodity Management programs which incorporate the concepts of total cost reduction and "Lean" Manufacturing. Included frequent travel throughout the US, Mexico and occasionally Europe to accomplish corporate goals.

Negotiated long term agreements and developed performance metrics with key Global and Regional suppliers. Over $11 million in total cost savings was achieved during this period while reducing the supply base 90%.

DIVISIONAL SUPERVISOR - PURCHASING 1995 - 2005

Supervised a group of Buyers responsible for all Divisional IMM - Integrated Material Management and Commodity Management programs. Supervision included the interviewing, hiring, training, establishment of Buyer objectives, evaluation and review of Buyer performance.

Led a project for the strategic outsourcing of Indirect Materials Purchasing. Implemented Commodity Management programs for the 22 Divisional sites in North America which required interaction and coordination of various functional groups at each site, including senior Plant Management, PC&L, Finance, Production and various Unions. Commodity Management programs included; blue print tooling, chemical management, industrial supplies, electrical and power transmission products. Value of these contracts exceeded $165,000,000 per year.

Was named the Divisional “2004 Diversity Buyer of the Year”. Established Diversity Commodity Manager agreements valued at $18 million per year.

SENIOR BUYER - CAPITAL EQUIPMENT 1994 - 1995

Utilized the Global Sourcing process to negotiate and purchase plant capital equipment requirements, i.e. CNC machining centers, lathes & turning centers, screw machines, grinders, cold formers, heat treat equipment, etc. Worked closely with Engineering in order to accomplish this in a cost effective manner.

Proficient user of SAP, Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.

SUPERVISOR INDUSTRIAL PURCHASING & MATERIAL CONTROL 1990 - 1994

Supervised indirect material purchasing activities including buyers, schedulers and clerical support. Annual department purchases of over $ 23 million. Developed and implemented successful “point of use” and Kan Ban inventory pull systems. Successfully installed the corporate purchasing and inventory control computer system.
