Started in November 1994 as Plant Manager in the Tijuana facility with a work force of 150 people with severe performance issues of 50% quality customer rejected level, 50% productivity level and net losses on a monthly basis. Turned around the Plant in 6 months and growth the operation up to 1,200 people as we introduced several new technologies and started a multitude of new and transferred products from US manufacturing sites to Tijuana plant.

• In 1996 started a successful “green field” cable assembly operation in Chula Vista, California and one more in 1997 in Aguascalientes, Mexico. By 2001 became responsible for three Mexican operations (Tijuana, Hermosillo and Aguascalientes) and promoted to Vice President of Operations.
• A long-term operations strategy for Mexico operations was put in place with strong priority on standardization of a quality system and best manufacturing practices and implementation of Lean manufacturing program with emphasis on the cultural change.
• The early results of this strategy delivered the certification of ISO 9001 version 2000 across the Mexico manufacturing sites using one quality system. Significant progress achieved on Lean Manufacturing during the first year of the implementation in all sites.
• Training of Lean tools and the extensive use of Kaizen events, generated amazing space and labor savings, while quality and productivity improved. Production was converted to cellular manufacturing and went from “Batch” to “One-piece-flow” production, reducing work-in-process inventory by more than 50%.
• The plan was enhanced for further development and deeper perspective of the Lean Model in order to create a Cultural change to sustain the results achieved in the early stages and avoid regression.
