• Developed health programs for rural students, impacting over 2,000 individuals a year.

• Successfully applied for, and was awarded, a Monsanto grant for the department.

• Instruct, people of all ages, safety in rural areas by using props for educational purposes.

• My duties consist of, but are not limited to, keeping the office organized, scheduling appointments, attending meetings with administrators, assisting in general office tasks, researching, updating and creating rural health facts and creating new health programs.

• Developed health programs for individuals looking for healthier life styles.

• I tutored elementary age children with reading and math skills.

• Each day my responsibilities were to aid the teacher with groups of students.

Student Worker at the Quincy Illinois Veterans Home (June 2009 - August 2009)

• Worked as an assistant to nurses and secretaries in the Veterans home.

• I preformed office work, which included paperwork, filing, classifying, and checking in and out Veterans from the facility.

• My other responsibilities entailed folding clothes, passing ice water, taking Veterans to appointments and reading to residents.

STUDY ABROAD: Comparative Analysis of the UK and US Health Systems (Summer 2011)

• Experienced different types of health care facilities and communication approaches.

• Learned how to deal with many issues: language barriers, accessibility issues, affordability of care, creativity of programs, importance of community acceptance, etc.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

• Graduated from the University of Illinois in May 2012.

• Lead researcher in a study of Illinois Rural Health Disparities during Spring 2012.

• Member of Phi Sigma Beta National Honor Society since 2010.

• Assistant T.A. for upper level health related course during Spring 2012.

• Active in student volunteer groups and clubs at the University of Illinois from 2008-‘12.

• Member of Illini Service Dogs since 2012 and donated a Labrador puppy to the program.
