projects for Delphi Packard products. Developed sealing methods for small
gage aluminum cable used in automotive wiring assemblies and connections
systems for aluminum automotive battery cable.
. Successfully invented a conformal coating process for an automated
lead cutting machine to seal the aluminum core at high speed
production rates; the innovative and patented automated process
enabled Delphi to competitively utilize aluminum conductors in
automotive wiring systems. Received 3 patents for inventions.
. Introduced new friction welding concept to company which utilized a
copper terminal adapter for terminating aluminum battery cable;
resulted in the ability to utilize existing components with aluminum
core battery cable and enabled Delphi to effectively compete with
aluminum battery market.
Delphi Electronics and Safety - Vandalia Engineering Center - Vandalia, OH
2006-2007
Special Assignment, Manufacturing Engineering Development
Selected to provide crucial support to Manufacturing Engineering
Development. Developed and specified high pressure (15,000 psi) gas mixing
and compressing system for new airbag inflator program, as well as airbag
inflator, initiator, and energetic scrap disposal system. Additionally
completed gas-fill process development for Delphi airbag inflator programs;
this involved coordination and completion of two separate programs (cold
gas inflator requiring fill pressures to 9,000 psi with helium/argon gas
mix and heated gas inflator with 4-gas hydrogen based gas mix).
. Performed in-house system design and sub-contracting system component
build and integration; resulted in $1.2M reduction in Delphi
investment for high-pressure mixed gas supply system.
. Designed Delphi gas fill machines with precise gas fill mass control;
resulted in $100K reduction in per machine cost.
. Regularly met/surpassed challenging milestone requirements, including
exceeding timeframe for high-pressure mixed gas supply system
installation by 2 months and installing an explosives scrap disposal
incinerator on time/within budget.
Delphi Electronics and Safety -Rimir Operations - Matamoras, Mexico
2003-2005
