• Create mathematical models of entire distillation process, entire absorption process and expected products

• Prep each team member about potential safety and procedural hazards

Key Responsibilities • Create P&ID and PFD Schematics of a recommended Butanol Plant design
• Choose a reactor type and optimize the operating conditions using heuristics, hand calculations, and sensitivity analysis using Aspen Plus and Excel
• Sizing of all process units, with supporting calculations in Excel, MATLAB, and Polymath
• Consider safety and environmental issues in recommended design. Identify process hazards, and recommend safety procedures.
• Create equipment summary and stream tables
• Perform a total Economic Analysis using hand calculations and CAPCOST
• Provide a technical and oral report outlining a recommended Butanol Plant design
