AMR /American Airlines/SABRE, Inc. - Dallas/Ft Worth, TX (Mar 1996 – Dec 2000)
Senior Consultant II for SABRE/AMR in the Human Resources Systems Development.
Subject Matter Expert (technical lead) for PA processing and CEIS legacy HR system for all AMR companies. As technical lead, I was responsible for mentoring and developing over a dozen contractors and new hires. I helped cross train the IMS and DB2 on call support teams and facilitated integration. This reduced the number of people required to be on call. I started code reviews to assist with knowledge
transfer and quality improvements. I leveraged the code reviews to improve documentation in both the code and JCL. Our slogan was: “If you’re not improving it, you’re losing it!” We maintained high utilization rates and billable hours by negotiated scope enhancements, project consolidations, and quality/process paybacks. I participated on several weekend interview pools sponsored by our third level as well as many interviews for candidates at the department level while on the legacy and again on the SAP team.
CEIS had IMS ADF online screens in addition to BMP and DLI components. PL/I, COBOL and EASYTRIEVE were the main programming language. SQL and DB/2 were used for ad hoc queries and data extracts used for mass update processes.
Sept ’98 SAP HR go-live for first group of AMR subsidiaries. Jan ’99 all AMR domestic companies went live on SAP 3.0 !

Production MLC was an IMS online system. These processes were designed so that Engineering changes and MES orders for large systems (308X and 309X) were handled efficiently and effectively. MES orders affected Production Planning (PP) and Materials Management (MM) areas. The application involved PL/1 programs to detect errors, update databases, and generate reports that ran batch on MVS system. Report files were also transmitted to a VM-based machine for end user viewing via selection panels. REXX EXECS were also used on VM to facilitate inter-divisional distribution. I initiated system configuration reconciliation processes and presented these at multiple marketing region meetings. (Aug ’83 – Mar ’90)
