PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Scientific Analyst – Omnilytics, Inc., Sandy, UT (October 2010 – October 2011)

Work in a plant pathology laboratory for a biotechnology company. Extract various infectious bacterial disease agents and characterize them against a stock of bacteriophage. Receive and prepare laboratory samples for analysis, following proper protocols. Properly culture a wide variety of BioSafety Level 2 organisms including bacterial diseases, viruses, and fungi for use in different virology research studies including bacteriophage disease control. Use molecular biology applications, such as QPCR and PCR amplification quantification and genetic characterization of xanthomonads, pseudomonades, E. coli, salmonella, and other viral diseases for use in finding a working bacteriophage and curing the known bacterial disease. After a bacteriophage was selected through an extensive characterization testing process on a bacterial host isolate, ferment the bacteriophage against their host in large quantities for industrial use. Record all data pertaining to results of all research and experimental data. Analyzing data results and further process improvement. Prepare data summaries, reports, and analyses. Excellent multitasking skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Very hands-on working environment, including accuracy while using a pipette; extreme focus; and attention to detail.

Analytical Chemist – ALS Laboratory Group, Salt Lake City, UT (July 2010 – November 2010)

Work in Organic Department. Analyze and report environmental and industrial hygiene samples using ion chromatography IC, PCB, HPLC, and LC/MS. Establish, validate, and develop new methods for analysis. Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment. Prepare extensive reports and keep record of all sample data.
