- PC BASED SMART TRAFFIC LIGHT CONTROL SYSTEM. This was an academic project for my final year of computer engineering.
As part of a five-member team, we designed a traffic light control system which could monitor and sense the density or the no. of vehicles
in a particular lane; and give the priority or the green signal to the lane with the highest density. The design work includes two major
parts, the hardware and the software. The switch-sensors and LED’s make up the hardware part. Solving the congestion at the junctions,
switch-sensors are implemented to detect the traffic conditions. Both the LED’s and switch-sensors are interfaced to the computer with the
use of parallel port. The program coded to a PC serves as the controller for the system. The software part and the hardware part were integrated
to simulate a traffic light system.
