Market Credit Officer – General Industries Commercial Lending

• Facilitated the origination, approval and booking of commercial credits in the Business Banking group (companies with revenue size of $3MM-$50MM) in SF/North Bay market. Worked in close partnership with a team of Client Managers ranging from 8-16 people in this leadership position.

• Exceeded 2008 Credit Revenue growth goal of 13% for assigned portfolio, with revenue almost doubled (98% increase over 2007 revenue) despite recession.

• Surpassed revenue growth goal in 2006 (30% increase v. 10% goal). The SF/North Bay market had highest loan volume for Pacific Northwest Region during all years (2006-2008) I worked with the team.

• Pre-screened non-standard loan requests (‘out of-the-box’ industries, companies, etc.) with Sr. Approval Officers and/or Risk Managers who were part of a centralized underwriting group (Pasadena, CA).

• Performed initial credit analysis of new deals to confirm viability. If deals moved forward, completed business profile, industry analysis, etc. to submit for approval of credit.

• Developed the team of Client Managers in the market, with primary responsibility to improve the level of credit competency and client selection through ongoing coaching.

• Responsible for credit quality of market’s loan portfolio. Assisted Client Managers in identifying potential issues with clients that could result in credit deterioration.

• Supported the Market Executive (sales manager) and Client Managers in obtaining new business by collecting market information (brokers, lead generation lists, etc.) and joint sales calling.

2003 – 2005 Bank of America, Fremont, CA

Credit Products Officer/Underwriter - Specialized Industries (Auto Dealer) Commercial Lending

• Bank’s Auto Group supported the financial needs of private and publicly held automobile retailers. Products include all standard commercial credit (floor plan or inventory financing, real estate term and construction loans, capital loans, revolving lines of credit) as well as depository, treasury management and derivatives products

• Primary responsibility was to manage risk of up to $400MM commercial portfolio for the Auto Group specialty lending division. Completed or reviewed all credit approvals for renewals and new business requests.

• Began in Auto Group as a Credit Team Leader, with direct supervision over four underwriters (managed $400M portfolio) prior to re-structure of Credit Center as part of Client Management team process.

• Title changed to Credit Products Officer in mid-2004 (individually managed $100M portfolio), when job required direct underwriting of more complicated credits in addition to review/approval of smaller deals completed by analyst.

• Teamed with two to three Client Managers handling all credit product renewals and new credit requests. Markets ranged from Seattle to Southern California and Iowa to Texas (territory west of Mississippi).

1996 – 2003 Southeast Toyota Finance, Deerfield Beach, FL

Commercial Account Manager

• Managed a $250MM auto dealership portfolio, supervising two credit analysts and a customer service representative. Organic and new business grew the portfolio by $40MM during last year with company (prior to purchase by Bank of America in 2003).

• Handled all referrals from retail/lease salespeople throughout the Southeast for new commercial business to auto dealerships. Make sale calls/visits to existing and prospective customers.

• All underwriting of dealer requests for both new and existing clients completed under my supervision by credit analysts. Some more complicated credit requests required my hands-on completion of underwriting.

• Credit requests typically average $5MM-$15MM, and include floor plan (inventory lines of credit), capital loans (purchase financing and working capital) and mortgage loans.

• Involved in all aspects of new deal closings: approval, negotiation, documentation, take-over audit, entertainment of principals, etc.

• Experience with problem loans, and worked on-site at dealerships as front person examining extent of problem. Sometimes resulted in organizing legal actions, which could include physically taking back collateral.

• Commercial Department met new business sales goals (ranging from $50MM-$100MM) for five of seven years. This included two years that my main responsibility was approval of new business requests.

• Developed new business through referral source network of CPAs, attorneys, brokers and appraisers. Typically included small business loans under $1MM.

• Completed all underwriting of credit for both renewals and new deals.

• Responsibility ranged from initial contact with customers, credit review, negotiating terms with customers, and closing the deals.

• Instituted first generation of computer software (Fair-Issac) used for credit scoring of small business loans.

• Completed formal 12-month Commercial Credit Training Program, which included credit school, annual credit reviews, financial statement and real estate analyses, RMA industry analyses, etc.

• Experience working with lending officers and senior management in several departments: commercial (revenues $4MM-$100MM); commercial real estate; private banking; residential construction; not-for-profits (i.e. schools, hospitals).

• Managed a loan officer’s portfolio while she was on maternity leave.

• Prospected for new business along with senior lenders, sending letters (mostly based on D&B company lists) and setting up calls.
