eMSS from home

The New Teacher Center’s e-Mentoring for Student Success (eMSS) is a nationwide content-specific online mentoring program that supports the professional growth and development and increases the retention of new math, science [STEM], and special education teachers. As a mentor, I work with these new teachers to provide emotional and instructional support.

CTYOnline From home

CTYOnline is a program run by Johns Hopkins University that provides online courses for gifted students. In my role, I teach life science, earth science and physical science to a group of 40 students. The courses are self paced and delivered via Moodle and Plato. Student can complete the courses in anywhere from 3-6 months. Primary responsibilities of instructors include grading, feedback and academic support. The courses are written at the middle school level, but many of the students are elementary school age as it is a gifted program.

I facilitate online courses for educators on a variety of topics. As the course facilitator I monitor course discussion boards and ensure that all students remain on task and schedule. I complete weekly or bi-weekly feedback emails to each student and I assess a final project in each course.

In my second year, I had six instructional coaches working in each of the six county school buildings. My role was to support those coaches as they worked with the ILT’s. I continued to coordinate all meetings as administrator of the program.
