Microbiology
• Identify aerobic organisms and determine antibiotic sensitivities using AutoScan, bioMerieux miniVidas, and BacTec analyzers
• Utilize other benchtop methods of identification, such as catalase, coagulase, optochin, and so forth
• Set up cultures from various body sources (wounds, stool, urine, blood, CSF, sputum, nasopharyngeal or throat swabs) and assist RNs and other medical personnel in determining proper specimen requirements
• Maintain inventory of unexpired supplies
• Perform all necessary daily, weekly and monthly Quality Control
Blood-banking (Immunohematology)
• Type/screen/cross-match, utilizing both manual (gel or tube) and automated (Provue) methodology
• Identify antibodies (with elutions where necessary), perform pediatric aliquoting, inventorying, re-typing and issuance of pRBCs, FFP, and platelets, complete/document all requisite QC (This experience primarily obtained during 8-month specialist position with the American Red Cross.)

I am fully competent with Cerner, Cerner Millennium, CPSI, HMS and Meditech laboratory information systems (LIS), also, adequate with several others.
Phlebotomy
I am excellent at venipuncture with pediatric, adult and geriatric populations, also fully trained for arterial sticks.
