BIOGRAPHY
Maria Dolores was born in Seville, Spain. She goes by the name of Loli, which is a common nickname in Spain of her first christening name Maria Dolores. In 1976 she became an American citizen, and holds a double citizenship with Spain since.
She has travelled extensively and has lived in three continents and various cultures in Europe, America and Asia Minor. Speaks Spanish and English fluently, Italian, French and German not so fluently and still remembers some Farsi from her time in Persia.
She has an extensive Humanities background and, throughout her schooling in Spain, she studied Latin for nine years and classical Greek during six.
She has three grown children, and loves poetry, classical music and sailing.
She is an artist that lives and works in Houston, Texas.

Cultural Advisor, Consulate General of Spain – Houston, Texas June 2008 – Present
• Promoted, organized and presented cultural events showcasing the present and the past of the culture of Spain
• Founded the First Annual Consul’s Regatta at the Houston Yacht Club. The regatta has become a permanent event on the yearly Consular Forum calendar.
• Patron Chaired the 2009 Consular Forum and 2009 Consular Ball. Assembled the committee and organized meetings to raise $250,000 required to fund the Consular events and benefit the 2009 charities of choice (Rice University, University of Houston, St. Thomas University, Baker Institute).
• Conceptualized, designed and executed complete Consular Ball redesign to attract a larger number of sponsors.
• Created all visual materials and logos for the branding of the 2009 Consul’s Regatta and Consular Forum.
• Assisted the Consul General in several historical investigations regarding Spain’s presence in Texas.
• Worked in the presentation of the Exhibit Visas for Freedom at the Holocaust Museum Houston
• Secured an art Exhibition of three artists from Spain at Deborah Colton Gallery.

• Worked under the direction of the Development Director for Planned Giving resulting in a deeper understanding of the museum.
• Created, presented and implemented new concepts and ideas related to Fine Planned Giving by changing the approach resulting in increasing the contributors.
