OBJECTIVES:
Accurate, reliable, diligent and focused on the timely, quality completion of all laboratory procedures. Work under pressure and time constraints within high-volume environment. Proficient in clinical laboratory skills, with commended performance conducting, analyzing laboratory assays and resolving complex clinical and troubleshooting laboratory equipments.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
March 5th, 2003 –Jan 2010 Faulkner Hospital
2008-2010 Boston Medical Centers (Hematology only)
As a generalist medical technologist II, duties included but not limited to collect and prepare specimens and testing of samples per hospital procedures. Performed and evaluated complex sample testing in various areas of clinical laboratory, worked under minimal supervision, evaluated, interpreted, correlated and validated the accuracy, of laboratory procedures and test results. Performed a variety of biological specimens using manual and automated techniques, which required a broad exercise of independent judgment and responsibilities. Work performed in different areas of the lab among which were clinical chemistry, coagulation, hematology, immunohematology (blood Bank), microbiology, parasitology, serology, urinalysis, and training of new employees.
HEMATOLOGY:
Performed and accurately interpreted routine hematological diagnostic assays such as CBC, coagulation tests including INR, PTT, PT, Fibrinogen as well as body fluids such as CSF, Synovial, Peritoneal fluid for cell count identifying normal and abnormal cell morphologies, urinalysis identifying sediments, crystals and reporting results in an appropriate time. Involved in trouble shooting of non-complex instrument problems.
BLOOD BANK:
Performed simple and complex serological testing among which, were red-cell antibody screening and antibody ID, patient and donor antigen typing, DAT and Elutions, Auto and differential Absorptions, LISS and PEG reagents, Rhogam studies, fetal screening (FMH), cord samples, preparation of products for acute blood loss, including traumas and massive transfusion process, preparation and modification of red cell components such as, irradiation of red cells and platelets, filtration of red cells to remove leukocytes , splitting of red cells, pooling and washing of red cells and platelets, cryo precipitate preparation, thawing of FFP and sickle cell screening.
MICROBIOLOGY:
Processing of microbiology specimens, interpreting of gram stain smears, blood culture evaluations and work ups, performed and tested on a variety of microbiology disciplines among which were bacteriology, parasitology, and mycology as well as providing technical support in fulfilling departmental needs and objectives.
